Whats up NS, I messed up my leg pretty good last weekend. I broke my tibia and fibula and displaced them both a bit, the fracture is midway up my leg so fortunately my knee and ankle are totally fine and it was a closed fracture so everything was much more simple.
I had the IM rod put in the same day as the fracture and am currently on my 4th day post-op (the surgeon said my operation took longer because my bones were very dense and he had a hard time hammering the rod in lol). Since the first day I've been putting a tiny bit of weight on my leg using a walker (basically using the weight of my leg to stretch out my ankle a bit) and now I can move around a little better but still need the stability of the walker.
Anyone have advice for an injury like this? I know I shouldn't take medical advice from a ski forum, I'm still gonna follow what my ortho says but he was relatively vague about what I couldn't do (I have a follow-up at 14 days) so I'm wondering if anyone has something they wish they would have done earlier or anything like that. My plan is to basically try and do more movement each day and start some muscle activating pt exercises in a day or two, also really wanna be done with these painkillers asap
