Recovery from low back injury

I had a somewhat similar experience this summer, but not at all close to the severity of your case.

I caddied at two golf courses and turns out after walking 7-8 miles a day with 20 lbs on only one shoulder, your back starts to spasm and develop pain. Time helped a lot with this because it wasn't a serious injury, but I learned a lot.

In my experience, our backs are pretty resilient, so most injuries actually come from an imbalance from side to side. I'd say get some really good muscle stability exercises for your lower back. Stretching (static and dynamic) and dead hangs also go a really long way.

Assuming you have exhausted all PT, meds, and surgery options, I would try CBD or other 420 options. When I was laid up for months with my leg that stuff helped better than any oxy/gabapentin.

Thankfully it's not severe enough to seriously consider surgery but yeah I smoke daily. Unfortunately proper CBD flower or whatever is really hard to come by in my area, at least at a reasonable price

dealt with the same shit for a while and found working on hip mobility really helped!

Ever try an inversion table? I used to hang upside down at the gym from the pullup bar, helped my back a lot.

I broke my T12 vertebrae skiing a few years ago and it sucked. Besides giving it time, stretching and doing the cat / cow yoga poses every day really helped with recovery. The biggest thing wasn’t healing the bone (that’s impossible), it’s strengthening the inner core muscles that hadn’t been used. Check out some core workouts on YouTube and those will go a long way - start slow and don’t do them if they hurt. I’m still not 100% but I bet you could get back to full strength. Good luck!

CBD/420, I roll on tennis balls daily and stretch out. Get a super good back massager. Hot yoga relives pain quickly since it relaxes and works your muscles. Just take it slow and figure out what your limit feels like. Worst thing you could probably do is not properly stretch out before you ski. Had some pretty bad back spasms and it ultimately messed my neck up. Been months and still fighting it. I found the pre ski stretches and not 5 minutes more like 20-30 minutes really allowed me to still function. I go to the gym 5-6 days a week and strengthening my back has helped significantly with the back issues. Flexibility is essential for staying healthy and will prevent long term injury from occurring compared to going out cold and tight.

i did laser therapy like 10 years ago. havent had problems since. it is sort of gimmicky but lots of pro athletes swear by it.

Stretching and strengthening my core made a big difference, but what helped even more during flare-ups was using cbdv distillate. It took the edge off the inflammation without messing with my head like other stuff I’ve tried. I still do daily walks and bird dogs, but the cbdv distillate really helped me ease into recovery faster especially on bad days when my back was stiff or sore.
