How difficult is it to remove heli coils?

Looking at getting a pair of used skis, guy said he has heli coils in them right now. How difficult are those to remove? Is that something a shop should be able to do as well as fill the holes for a re mount?

They're not difficult to remove unless they used metal ones but it's rare because metal is a bit overkill most of the time. That being said, it's a larger hole and so when you remove them the hole needs to be filled. Both for waterproofing and structural integrity. A good industrial epoxy is a must for that. Honestly wouldn't expect most shops to be willing to do that for you. I did it once so I could sell a pair but I've never been asked to do it in my shop.

I wouldn't remove the heli coil, I'd just put some glue in there and hammer a plastic plug into it (ones you'd use for remounts). I've done it probably 10 times before with no problems.
