I just found a sweet deal on some dollo's, but they're 180s. I'm currently 5'8, and am used to riding 168's. Is that too much of a size up? This deal is very hard to pass up, but I want to hear everyone's own 2 cents before I say fuck it and buy 'em.

I'm basically on the same boat as you, I am 5'9 and bought the 105 nomads that are 181.
I’m a similar height and was riding a similar size ski to you. I moved up to 172 edollos and didn’t notice a difference. Up to you if you think the extra cm will be too much.
that'd be a perfect size and upgrade. 168 is fairly short for someone 5'8". Pretty sure edollos measure shorter like around 177ish too. You might notice a difference in swing weight and added length at first but the benefits outweigh everything else.
you can if you want/if it's a good enough deal. so you're 172cm and those skis are 180 but iirc armadas measure a little short so they're prob more like 178cm. so you're 6 cm off plus you could "choke up" on the bat by mounting them center (meaning less ski in front of your toes to push around)
how heavy are you? where/what will you ski with them? how good are you? do you like longer skis? are you still growing?
I dont know how tall 5,8 is but im somewhere around 175cm and i be skiing the 180 edollos and its great for me. Remember its more steez with longer skis
You’ll be fine. I had some 168s for instructing in australia (company had run out of 176 I ordered and basically did a “take it or leave it” on the 168.). Switched back to longer skis after and no problems. I’m 5’8”.
The 180 will measure more like a 177/178 with some slight rocker too so maybe like a 175
First off thats a 7cm difference, which is not that huge, being that they are Armada skis, they will end up measuring 2cm short, so that means they will be 178, thus 5cm above your head. So now we have a ski that is either 180 or 178 depending on how you measure it. There is another way to look at this, ski size relative to height. 173/180 = .96 and 173/178 = .972. Thus you are within a height range of [96%, 97.2%] of the skis length. (ie: you are 96% the height of a 180cm Edollo ski)
How about we do this analysis on Harlaut, after all the ski was designed for him. Based on this photo of him, we see that he is riding a 180 Edollo (look just below the toe piece of his binding). Harlaut is 5'7" or 170cm (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henrik_Harlaut). Now if we do the same analysis as before we see that Harlaut is within a range of [94.4%, 95.5%] of his skis height which means he is smaller than his skis by a greater margin relative to you to you.
There for, you are not sizing up, and are getting a ski that is a relatively good size for you. Go with the 180, I think it fits you better than the 174.
unless you mostly just ski rails and like doing quick switch ups or 4/6's on / out imo i would size up. i'm 5'10 and my 185's feel short sometimes if i'm skiing fast or hitting bigger jumps
