So I’ve been working on my summer ski setup it’s 6.5 feet tall and I plan on using turf , I need help with a flat section.
The flat section isn’t put in yet but I need to know if I even need one to go to the lip because I heard it hurt the speed. If that’s true is this flat the right length or should it be shorter to keep speed or longer. Thanks.
Btw it’s not even close to done so Ik there needs to be rails on the top and the gaps need to be filled I also have only used free palettes and scrap wood the only thing I naught wood wise was one of the beams because I was missing one

One of the better setups out there OP nice job, extra points for reusing old wood. Just have the lip where the end is now as any more of a transition may kill your speed. Keep up the good work you’ll be greasing it up in no time
Looks good OP. Like mentioned above just add the rail/tube at the end of the bottom pallet and you should be good to go. Give it a few test runs once you have the turf installed to actually see how fast you will be going and go from there. Cool to see you use recycled wood too! Post up some clips once you get it dialed!
I think you should be good to just add a small lip to the end like the others said! Before making anything permanent, put your ski down and make sure that everything is smooth and that there aren't any sharp points that make the ski flex too much. That will make things slower, and throw you off as you're hitting it.
I'm also building a setup rn with only free wood haha. I'll toss in my build plans and what i have so far. Sick setup too!
Yo zurg quick question how much rise did u put on ur kicker

Looks like a really dope setup, in the past i've used old carpet, astro turf and plastic lattice fencing. But yeah transitions kill your speed so minimize flat sections
its18loveI just got done working on it for today still have to make the ladder, railing, rail some cross bracing and filling and put the turf in then I’m done

it is not summer. tear it down it makes your house look like shit
if you turf it and its feeling too slow, you can always replace the turf at the top with small diameter pvc tubing laid sideways across the roll in. you pick up speed a lot faster sliding down the pvc than you do on turf.
