Is it too late to start with freestyle skiing?

Hey guys, I started skiing since I was five years old. Now I wanted to start with skiing in the park and I wanted to ask you guys if I can still get good at it? ( I am 17 years old now). I've been in in the park for about 4 days by now and I can hit rails and do some small jumps. I've also been doing artistic gymnastics for about 10 years on a high level. So do you guys think that it is too late to get good at skiing in the park or even start competing someday?

your a kid... send that shit. I started in the park when i was 15, not to far off from you. Im 33 now and still rippn, just hurts more and lasts about 3 times longer lol.

No. I started when I was 22 and I'm almost 25 now. I have improved exponentially. Depends how often you can practice and how dedicated you can be. Especially with a gymnastic background you can improve fast. I'm not a comp skier or anything but I throw down and only want to keep getting better. Trying to get my backflips and 360s perfect this year, and then land a flat 3 and frontflip. I had diving and trampoline experience as a kid so that definitely helped me.

Thanks for the reply! At the moment I am quite dedicated and I can ski more or less every week. So I'll just try my best and send it :)

I just turned 21 and this is my first year skiing park. Hit my first rail about a year ago. You a young jit, go crazy!

Never. I’m 16 and this is my second year skiing and first year in the park. I already got 360s, front swaps and front 2s , can hit most rails and hit my first backflip a few weeks ago. Skiing is a little easier than it looks as long as u have balls

If you stomp 3's and backflips consistently by the end of this year your in good shape

No disregard what I said. It doesn't matter if you are good or bad If you got style or lack thereof. All that matters is that you have fun on the mountain. Don't look for the acceptance of others. just do what makes you happy and if that is park skiing then that's what you should pursue

you’re 17 years old and in my opinion way too old to start competing or learning tricks in freestyle skiing. Unless you’re a female you really have no chance at being a good freestyle skier at such a old age. with age comes danger and tricks are a lot harder to land when you get older so my best advice would to be careful dude

I didn't start doing freestyle till I was 16 and I hit my first rail in a competition. I sucked but I got better and 9 years later now I can spin up to 7 and do most of the basic flips and probably could have progressed more if I skied more than a couple times a year. I still have fun at the local rail jams too and usually place. 17 is definitely not too old and there are a couple of clips of guys on here sending their first backies or 3s in their 30s-40s

Not too late man. I started dabbling more in the park when I was 21 or 22 and I’m 26 now. Can cork 7, front and backflip, grind most rails, etc. you’re plenty young to get started. Go huck your meat and have fun.

that being said, get your ass in the gym to prevent injuries and your body will thank you in the long run

depends what level you want to compete.

are you gonna go to the olympics/xgames/dewtour? probably not

could you compete in some regional rail jams? of course! my university used to have a redbull series where we could ski some rails in front of the library once a month. the apres parties were so sick.

i wouldnt worry too much about competing tho, do what is fun for you. there are other outlets in free skiing other than park you could compete in if thats really important to you.

I don't really know yet but I think I'll learn as many tricks as possible and have fun. And then I'll see how things go.
