Attack 14 GW Clicking

So I've got 2 pairs of attack 14s on my two camox. One pair has a weird clicking sound from inside the toe piece, it also feels like there is some vertical tension that releases right when it clicks. I need to adjust the AFD on one binding, but that isn't the one that clicks.

I've noticed there is some empty space above to toe of my boots as well.

It's your AFD. You need to push back hard on the rear cuff of your boot.

I literally step in to them on a flat surface, then rock back and forth to see if there is clicking/movement. Then adjust if needed.

How tight do these want the AFD? When I talked to head they warrantied my newest set, telling me it was abnormal.

I literally step in to them on a flat surface, then rock back and forth to see if there is clicking/movement. Then adjust if needed.

Did you do the adjustments or a shop tech? Can we get a picture of the forward pressure indicator as well.

When I adjust my AFD I set them so that when pulling back on the cuff there is a little bit of drag against the bottom of my boot when the AFD is sliding back and forth. It will almost stick but if pulling the cuff firmly the AFD will slide back to center. YMMV. This is with GripWalk soles btw.

You have gw soles? Not 100% certain but I don't think older Attacks compatible with gw

If they are 14s they are either new or the older AT model both of which should be GripWalk compatible.

Forward pressure looks perfect. Let us know how it goes with readjusting the AFDs and if that doesn't resolve the issue.

I just finished mounted my sth’s and had the same problem with the clicking. I used the little tab they provide to check the afd and it seemed good but when I clicked in there was quite a bit of slop. I readjusted the toe height and there isnt any more slop but im a little concerned that I may have set it too tight. When you check for afd height are you supposed to pull the cuff back?? Because I just left the boot in normally to check it

I know you pulling the cuff back to apply upward pressure to the toe is outlined in both the attack adjustment procedure as well as that of the shift, I've never mounted an STH but it makes sense that it would be the case for any binding.

As @Non_State_Actor mentioned, any binding with an adjustable AFD or toe height needs the extra play eliminated before adjustment.

Put the business card or .5mm spacer on the AFD below the toe with it still out enough to grab and click into the binding. Pull the rear boot cuff back HARD to wheelie the toe to eliminate any slack and then see if the business card/spacer is being clamped enough so that there is decent resistance to pulling it out.

If you can’t move it even with trying to wheelie the toe, it’s too tight. If it moves easily after you pull back the cuff, it’s not low enough yet/the AFD isn’t high enough.
