I'm not too knowledgable about what can or can't be fixed, but I'm pretty sure this is easily repairable? I found a really good deal on a pair of skis that are otherwise in great shape, just want to make sure this isn't enough of a snag to avoid them? Thanks.
Yes, that is repairable. Being that the damage is next to the edge, I would recommend using marine epoxy for the repair, instead of just a P-tex candle.
Quick tip for this repair, make sure the skis are completely dry before filling the area. This is even more critical in your case because the core is showing. Any water/moisture in the core will begin to rot the ski once sealed. At the shop I just put the skis with core shots in the furnace room for a day or two before filling them in.
