Who is in the wrong

I let my buddy borrow a helmet for a ski trip and he won’t give it back. This is my backcountry/all mtn helmet it’s a smith vantage. He says bc I have a helmet I use as a beater (giro ledge) he should keep the helmet bc he doesn’t have a ski helmet and can most definitely afford one. We both go to what I would say a pretty prestigious private school. We got it from the lost and found it had been there for a number of years so I told him to grab it bc I had already been in there. He thinks he should keep the helmet bc he stole it but he didn’t know what a smith vantage was until I told him. He has a triple 8 skate snow which he’s convinced is just a skate helmet. I just want your opinions.

I see ur point I called the number and the dude was paralyzed forgot to add that I asked him if he wanted it back as memorabilia from the best point of his life and he said it would do greater things with it and use it and not end up like him. He left it in the lodge bc that night he went out without it on and they shoved it in the lost and found

So because he didn't know what a Smith vantage was, you deserve the helmet from the lost and found more then him? And why do you need an " all mtn" helmet

This thread is pregnant with moral dilemma. But if homeboy got paralyzed while wearing that helmet perhaps it should be retired (no longer safe/compromised structure(or cursed))
edit: i cant read, the guy wasnt wearing the helmet

You guys are being competitive over something completely absurd it’s probably a sign of broader toxicity in the relationship as a whole. Have you thought about why it is you even choose to spend time with this person? Or why he chooses to spend time with you? Is it solely just out of fear that without each other you wouldn’t have anyone at all? And that frustration tends to manifest itself sometimes in irrational resentment towards your partner.

This is my advice. Cut the Smith in half, you both get to keep one half of the helmet. Then you cut your giro ledge in half and glue the halves together. Now you have a genuine Smiro Vantledge, one of the most versatile and coveted helmets to date. Thank me later.
