Is K2 a good idea for me?

Hey NS people I want to buy a new pair of twings for freeride/backcountry and I'd like to know if K2 would be a good option.

I'm currently riding Faction CT 2.0 from 2018 and i love them (even if i broke them my first season and had to buy new ones), they do feel great everywhere and on all types of snow, but I want wider skis for powder days and to go explore the mountain more.

I like playfull ski that's why i choose the CT 2.0 in the first place, light, flexible, and fun to ride is what i'm looking for. And after looking for i while i do like what K2 as to offer, particularly the Mindbenders 116 or the Reckoner 112 !

So if anyone have rode those skis i'd like to ear what you have to say about them.

I have the K2 Reckoner 112s. I’ve never skied the mind bender so this is just my thoughts on the ski. They float really well in soft snow, are very lightweight, have more of a surfy feel rather than a charger. I really love the ski. The durability isn’t the greatest, but they’ve held out longer than the K2 Marksman I had previously. They’re pretty poppy and playful imo. If I were to have a backcountry ski, the Reckoner 112 would probably be it for most days.

I'm not light (86kgs/190lbs) and i like to put power in my skiing so if the Reckoner are not the best charger they might not be for me.

Lots of people love the Mindbenders but of course they don't really serve a purpose in the park like the candides could. I think lots of people would recommend on3p Jeffreys as they do literally anything, the 108s can easily give you some float while also being able to charge crud.

108 would be too small for what i want to do, my CT are 102 and i'm gonna keep them, so i want something wide for riding in the pow.

Yeah. The 112 are a lot more "there" than the 122. They're stiffer and hold up at higher speeds in variable snow a lot better. I weight about the same as you, and really like the 112 but felt like I was folding the 122 too much. What bindings are you planning on putting on these skis? How much backcountry vs resort skiing do you plan on doing?

Can confirm, mindbender 116 do not go very well in the park

He didn’t mention using them in the park so maybe they are viable

Reckoner 112 definitely has the most backbone of the series, but I wouldn't call it stiff by any means. Way better on variable snow than the 102 or 122. The low tip and tail splay want to be more "in it rather than on it" but they plane up well once speed is reached and become pretty surfy in deeper snow. If I had to take 1 ski anywhere I'd pick the 112 almost every time.

I really like my k2 sights but the main problem is that they are really fragile and I took out a chunk of top sheet out on my first day using them.

since i'm keeping my CT 2.0 for normal day riding those new skis will be only for backountry powder days, and I'm thinking about some pivot 18 as bidings.

Faction CT top sheet suck mine are all destroyed so I'm not scared of that hahaha.
