17/18 ON3P Wrenegade 108 Mounting Point?

What’s good Newschoolers.

Today I just picked up a pair of 189 ON3P 108 wrens that I’m going to mount up with a pair of pivot 18s. Recommended is -9cm from center, I also ski switch a lot, not sure where to go here, I was thinking maybe -6?. I’m 6 foot 180 lbs, will be using these as a bridger bowl daily freeride charger (will ski switch a decent amount). Lmk what y’all think, and if anyone has experience with the ski please chime in. Super excited to ride these and complete the quiver.

The diehard On3p gang will tell you to always mount on the f*cking line. Apparently they take their mount points really seriously.

If you ski switch a lot, why did you get a Wren?

It’s understandable for sure. Mount them where it was made to be so it skis how it should. My kartel 116s are at recommend of like -4.1 or something and ride great and feels closer to center. The Wren is much more directional but I still wanted to ski switch a decent amount on them so I feel like -9 is a little much. Really looking for more input though.

Wrens are fun but you definitely want a woodsman instead if you want to charge more than a Jeffrey but still go switch on occasion

Yeah I mean ideally I wanted a woodsman 102 but couldn’t find one anywhere around me, or a 108. Found these and settled on them for the time and I think they’ll be sick and will do enough. Won’t need to ski stingers missing edge when there is no fresh snow anymore. It seems like they have a decentish tail. I’ll adapt to how the ski wants to ski more but I’m used to/would like to try to ski switch on them you know what I mean?

I couldn’t get exactly what I wanted with the used ski market rn and needed a daily ski asap. Does anyone however have any recommendations for where to attempt to mount this ski based on how the ski skis in relation how I like to ski?

I’ve heard the wrens can be a very punishing ski if you aren’t driving the shovels. I guess a forward mount could help if you ski in more of a neutral stance but I also feel like it could hurt more than help.

-9 seems like a lot but I say mount it where ON3P recommends. I centered my Magnus102s rather than -2 and they definitely don't carve as well as they could.

Punishing is putting it lightly. I would argue nearly unskiable. I know proper technique is to do just that but don’t even consider shifting weight to the backseat or you’re in for a wild ride.


On an unrelated note I have a pair on Wren 98 in 179cm I’m looking to move in from.

So a potential forward mount could be good your thinking personally? I don’t anticipate myself skiing super backseat

Mount at rec. Also the tail doesn't have that much rise (maybe it's more on the 108 vs 96) but unless you're skiing switch on pristine groomers, you're gonna eat shit when those tails catch (had this happen more than once). Idk I wouldn't fuck with the mount on those skis or they might act really weird.

Maybe it's just cuz they're bigger skis and mounted differently bit I find the kartel/Jeff 108 to be more challenging to ski if you're not in good form. I've never had issues with my wren 96's; super easy to ski.
