Tingling and numbness after frozen toes - anyone else experienced this?

So over NYE weekend, I went skiing with my friend on a little trip. It was cold, dipping into the negative degrees (Fahrenheit!). My left foot’s toes kept going numb and getting cold. I tried to ski through but I would have to stop and thaw in the lodge. At this point, I realized “my toes are seriously frozen”.

Ever since, my left toes seem to get cold and numb when I ski. When I walk around house barefoot, my big left toe feels numb at the tip. Like when I make a step, I feel that I can’t quite feel all the sensation.

Has anyone else dealt with something like this? How long did it take to go away? My wife practically froze one finger back in the day and it still irritates her in the cold so I’m hoping it’s not that.

I thought frostbite usually had some coloration with it?

Not always, frostbite won’t have permanent color changes unless it’s really serious. Some of the signs are itching and tingling when in the cold and bad circulation, so your hands will be more red/blue in the cold than otherwise.

Have that same issue with both of my big toes, moreso my right one. I cant feel a quarter of it and it seems like my nail is bruised and might come off. I know that sounds a bit concerning but it doesn’t bother me much, if anything is seriously wrong the damage is already done lol.

Sounds exactly like what I have. I bought a boot glove for time being. I hate it. I thought about buying footbed heater since I could install my own (used to do it when I worked at a ski shop) but they’re too expensive.

I’ve had the old bruised nail slowly coming off. Have fun with that one 😅

Bummer man my friend got frostbite snowmobiling and he has the same problems

I spent years diving my feet in snow before putting my boots on, because I couldnt handle the race boots' brand my ski club had a partnership with, frozen toes helped me handle the pain while racing

Lmao

My dad has nerve problems that make his right foot constantly have pins and needles. After several surgeries, he skied the other day for the first time in a few years and it was rough at first. Eventually his foot went completely numb and then he finally was able to start skiing faster and carve harder once he couldn't feel the pain

im glad my feet go numb when its cold out. I can ski for longer and go harder through the whole day. Skiing in 50 degrees and getting soaked liners after 2 hours sucks ass and it kills my feet and I always have to head in earlier than I'd like.

Could try heated socks. I think Thermic makes them

That’s from the combination of the cold and your boot being too small of you don’t have the right insoles. Happens to me too it sucks

I remember a mogul/ big air contest back to back. 9am to 10pm. Never changed my socks. When I took them off, the sock had frost on them. Learned a lot that night…

I've had similar issues with my feet, they get clammy and sweat no matter how cold and next thing ya know purple toes (and early signs of trench foot on occasion).

Whats sort of helped lately has been taking the calluses off my feet where they get cold, I had some pretty big ones from not really taking care of my feet basically ever

Yeah my buddy mentioned that he swears by those. Thermic does make them.

I’ve had it from a toe box being too high. Toe rises up and slams into the top.
SchizoSkierThat’s from the combination of the cold and your boot being too small of you don’t have the right insoles. Happens to me too it sucks
