Buttering my bread

i’m struggling to get that last 180 rotation after trying a nose butter 3 on the flat. any tips??

I would go a little faster and set the rotation harder. Also it looks like you dropped your arm which made it so you coudnt bring yourself around.

sweet thank you. can you kinda explain a little more what setting the rotation means in this case?

This might seem counterintuitive, but try to do keep the butter going for more of the rotation instead of fully popping the last 180 around. If you can stay on your tips until 270ish, your weight will be more forward when you pop out of it making it easier to stay over the skis.

Speed shouldn't matter. Think of the weighting of your body, You want to keep the fulcrum point, the balancing point in which your body spins around, as the contact of your noses and and snow. You just aren't accounting for that point to be rotating thus you falling once you go 180. You want the point of balance to always be on the nose and you can spin. Try absinth it mihght open ur mind to the angles and physics behind skiing. Like when I ride moguls, I can see the shapes and how my body is ment to fit into said shapes, its elementary my friend. Open ur eyes.

Before you initiate the butter tighten your core so your whole body moves together. Then rock onto your tips and swing your body around initiating the spin with your chest and core and keep your eyes level on the horizon. Watching the clip again you can see at 00:04 that you are looking down at your skis when you are buttering and that is what threw your axis off and most likely made you crash.

Here is an example: Stand in your room and tighten your core and jump and do a 360 and keep your eyes level. You will probably have a clean jump and land balanced. Then do the same thing but look down at your feet. You will probably fall or at least be really off balance. The same mechanics are working with you or against you on the slope.

kinda related - does anyone have any fun flatground tricks other than nb3 / swtb3? got both on lock both ways, but i want to get better at messing around on warm up laps and stuff

You have the right techique you just gotta put some more force to it and spin faster. Lead the rotation with your upper body.

No problem! Honestly by far the best exercise for skiing park is stair jumps. Simply find a stair set in your house or nearby and stand at the bottom. Then jump up 3 stairs at a time and force yourself to keep your eyes level. At first you will want to look down at the stair you are landing on but that is the point of the exercise. You need to keep you eyes level and use your peripherical vision to spot your landing. It will also train you to jump evenly and cleanly. Do a few sets every day and suddenly skiing park and skiing in general will just come easier and you will land more tricks.
