MAJOR binding mount "F" up

Help me!!! First time that a shop has royally messed up a pair of my skis. Ordered a pair of Shaggy's and the day they came took them to the local ski shop for mounting. Horrible job to say they least, left them there with note not to touch them until I was able to talk with someone. They remounted the bindings and left me with this mess..not to mention that I dropped off a brand new pair of my son's Line Honey Badgers and they messed them up, too but those remounted half way decent. There are before and after they were remounted (the two with the plugs). What is standard for reimbursement on something like this? Is a remount all that is to be expected or a new set of skis? These were $700 skis with $140 bindings.

They owe you at least a free remount, but if it's seriously fucked they could owe you new skis

Do I settle for the plugged holes and let it go? How many shops actually will reimburse for the skis?

So the skis were mounted at two completely different points and the toe piece was ridiculously crooked?

New skis and pay for a mount at a different shop?

Was the tech drunk? What's their explanation for how this got screwed up that badly?

The explanation they gave me was there tech quit and some other guy thought that he could do the job...they reimbursed me for the mount and sent me on my way after remounting them with some dinner vouchers..I am super pissed but, not sure what is the reality of the situation is....does anyone really get new skis? They blew me off when I suggested that. The pics below are my son's skis...just sloppy work; off center, crooked and holes not cleaned out..

If the shop tried blowing you off for suggesting a replacement set of skis I'd say talk to the stores owner. Fucking up once is one thing, but if I'm counting right they've fucked up three times. Thats just negligence.

Multiple crooked mounts and being in completely different spots can definitely lead to either very poor remaining choices of mount points, or no feasible points at all. These guy's fucking suck.


I'd never go back to that shop again

resale drops haaaard, they will be on 3rd mount for resale....



Id ask for a new ski, or at least a few hundred back.

Any shop worth their shit will at the very least offer to pay you the cost of your skis. That is not just messed up, their technician was either wasted, is blind, or is just a complete fucking idiot. In any case, they’ve added 16 unnecessary holes and they should 100% pay you back for the skis.

What I’m hearing is that they allowed someone who may or may not even be technically qualified to mount bindings??? What the fuck shop is this???

As someone who runs a shop I hate to say this, but they owe you new skis. I’ve bought customers skis for way less bad fuck ups than that. Whoever mounted those should be removed from the mount bench 100%, theres so many steps that went wrong to get both crooked and offset mounts.

I feel like you're due new skis. Basically they severely damaged your shit and tried to buy you dinner for it.

How in the living fuck does someone even mess up that bad.

Man, they owe you replacements for BOTH pairs. We've bought new skis for proper mounts but at the wrong location. They owe you for the permanent damage done to your equipment, and the risk they imposed on you and your son. These are some of the worst mounts I've ever seen, not just sloppy work. As a binding tech and skier with blown knees this shit pisses me off.

If "other guy" wasn't certified to mount Salomon bindings, that shop broke the law and undertook a massive liability. They owe you skis regardless, but I would ask to see proof of his Amer Sports certification dated before the mounts if they give you more pushback.

Please name the shop. That many dangerous mounts for one customer is terrifying.

A shop mounted a pair of my buddy’s skis backwards. When he asked them to fix it they only wanted to do one just so he could be sure. They fought tooth and nail with him thinking they mounted them correctly. It was pretty obvious which way they went, they were pow skis so it’s not like they were symmetrical.

you *should* absolutely be owed new skis. its one thing if they mount them in the wrong spot and then remount and adjust once. the number and nature of these fuckups are insulting and make it look like they thought somebody could practice learning how to mount on your skis. you should push for new skis, especially if they are making any sort of money as a shop.

if they really wont do it you should make clear how upset with the situation you are and let them know that youll be leaving a bad review somewhere. i love local shops but some people need to be set straight, and youll be helping out the next person whose skis get screwed up by the shop

If the guy who did the mount doesn't have his binding certifications, that opens the shop up to a whole world of liability hurt, and the binding company sure won't be to happy that there's a shop using untrained people to do mounts. Might wanna see if the tech had his certs, and bring that up to the owner. They definitely owe you new skis dude.

Looks like a foot on the jig fell off while mounting - from my experience it happens often - however, the tech should be double and triple checking to make sure rookie shit like that doesn't go through.

If I was the shop / tech in question I would def. remount that ski on the spot to get you skiing asap and find you a new ski at your convenience.

People I’ve worked with have fucked up mounts and there are 2 things that happen. 1.We consult them, say we messed up and take care of them (free tune up on all of the skis they own, set them up with free demos until they’re skis get finished,etc.) or fully refund the ski and give them a free remount

If the guy that mounted them just “thought he could handle it” and didn’t have his qualifications (ski techs all have certifications they have to take with the major brands for bindings, boots, etc) then not only is it a big fuck up but legit lawsuit worthy, they could get in deep shit for it. Absolutely ask if the tech was certified to mount the skis and then take it from there. Dude should never be allowed to touch a jug or drills again.

any update OP? those are egregious errors and i'm mad on your behalf that they actually wanted to give you them with a straight face and expected you to just go "okay thanks"

was the guy certified or not? if not then the shop risks you blowing them up about that point. if he is certified then there is no way on earth he could try to tell you he thinks those aren't horrible errors. i see 3 strikes: son's toe piece is WAY off center, your skis were done completely off, and the fix on them looks sloppy

i go out of my way to take it easy on small-ish shops but this is just insulting and dangerous. if those mounts are okay in their book i don't even want to see what else they're putting people on
