I got some base damage on my caddys, it's not very deep but u can def feel it with ur hand. Idk what to do really other than scrape off the hanging sh!t so they're smooth. I did see transparent PTEX candles online, so maybe that, but only if they're legit transparent. Anyone has advice as to what to do? Cheers.

They won’t be legit transparent if you don’t keep it hot enough and keep the flame directly on the base. It will get carbon in there and look muddy. My advice is to not worry about how your base looks, and just throw some black ptex in there, good luck!

Ty bro. Also would it be better if I just took em to my local ski shop and have them fixed there? It's like $25 for base repair as far as i remember.

That would definitely be the best option, I can’t really tell how deep it is from the picture, but it does look like a fairly shallow gash. If you don’t trust yourself it’s always best to defer to a shop and hope they’re honest with you about what you’d need done
Just chisel the hanging stuff off for starters, you can fix it later, like spring. Unless you're in the olympics.... A shop can make it look nice, but I like the black stripe repair look as well. Can't go too far wrong really.
This should be self explanatory but use a box cutter or sharp knife to cut away that excess. Don't use a chisel lol. As long as it didn't penetrate past the base material, you're good. You can try the ptex drip candles but as stated above they are difficult to remain transparent when burning. It may or may not stay on after melting in if it is shallow. You'll need a razor blade to cut away the excess.
