4FRNT InThayne Skis

Yo!

I need some advice on what ski size would be best for me. I am looking at this years 4FRNT InThaynes. Right now I ride 181 length ON3P Kartel 108s, but want a wider ski for the deeper days. For the InThaynes, should I go with the 188 or 181 size? Advanced PNW skier, i don’t ski park but like finding drops, cliffs and booters to get some pretty big air on, as well as throwing some 3s, butters and all around playful sendage. Do I need the bigger ski? Or will the 181s be good enough? I am 5’11 160 pounds.

Go 188. They'll be only a little longer than your 181 on3ps, and the inthaynes are really light and full rocker so they turn super easy.

I ride 108 Jeff's in 181 and inthaynes in 181. The thaynes are quite light but with a stiff flex throughout and you can definitely drive them. I had the thaynes first and I enjoy the alot but if I were to rebuy I'd probably go 188. For reference I'm 5'9 140, strong skier, mainly riding sw Co and Utah. If you like a more progressive mount do yourself a favor and mount them 2.5 cm in front of recommended and give the tails a nice detune since the skis have a shallow rocker and lots of effective edge. They ski perfect from that spot. It's where Thayne mounts em.

Go big! I ski on the 188 and love it. As was mentioned above, they pivot quick due to the rocker and lack of camber and they’re light, they feel quick in the air despite their size. Stoked on the inthayne for sure

I always recommend going longer with rockered or freeride rocker skis as the effective edge is what really counts IMO. I have 184 FRNT VCTs which are a traditional cambered ski and 189 4FRNT CRJs which are more similar to the Inthayne and the CRJs are actually more nimble due to the early rise tip and tail.

Here is an example:

Effective edge-

ON3P Kartel 181 cm: 144.5 cm
4FRNT Inthayne: 188cm: 137mm

So even though the Inthayne is a longer overall ski, the effective edge is considerably shorter than the Kartels.
