If you had J skis with White pivots stolen in Denver/Front Range area
I’m pretty sure these are hot. Throwing it out there if anyone got their skis stolen. Lotta J’s in Denver for sale. Doesn’t add up regarding price, lack of description, etc.
SuspiciousFishI used to have one of these I would use all the time. Its worth the $15 for sure. If you left your bike somewhere you would for sure lock it. Why not your skis?

it’s so easy to cut these and when i had one i could crack the lock code without looking at it in 1-5 min

Sure, they are pretty low security but its enough to deter a thief at a resort surrounded by crowds. Someone wanting to steal would much rather just snag a pair of skis instead of having to cut a cable in front of a bunch of people.

BradFiAusNzCoCaI use a cable lock through the pivot heels. Biggest thing is it being a deterrent/too much work for a thief
armchair_skier1-5min is a lot longer than the 0 seconds it takes to steal unlocked skis
yea it also is a pain in the ass to have it in a pocket when they aren’t locked up. i had one for like 2yr but then i found eventually it was kind of a hassle for me
Mine is like a rubber coated wire that goes into a slinky type shape so it’s not too bad to pack down but I see what you mean. If I had a different jacket with less pockets, I might hate it

BigPurpleSkiSuitI think he's probably doing both, either way hopefully the police actually pay him a visit, but I doubt this is high on their priority list.
driftssketchy listing of armadas with the heel ripped off, person looks like the type of person to jack skis and boards. also has pictures of them rested against a porta potty lmao https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1010179076483937/

As soon as I see someone with power tools up for sale, I assume everything is stolen
J_skisDefinitely considered it before. Since they're all shipped from a 3rd party fulfillment center nowhere near our office it wouldn't be possible to pre-register them as they leave the door but could easily create a form for people to register once they receive
I'll look into that for next season
Is this something that could be to be tracked through blockchain as well? If you could put a unique qr code on each pair of skis it would technically be possible to track the sale on the secondary market.

I mean people buy used shit for cash. I get that crypto will save us all or whatever but pretty much everything on CL and FB is cash only. You show up. You have the cash. You like the thing. You buy it and each go your seperate ways.

Except when the cocksucker realizes its a steal and changes the price by $200 when you show up. Fuck.

Idk if it varies state to state but i know a lot of places you're allowed to run somebody over with your car if they agree to meet and then pull that shit. Well not 100% legal, kind of a grey area, but you're doing the world a favor.
Straight up thats some bullshit for real though. Id rage
Got my setup stolen a few years back and have been scouring the internet to this day trying to find the fuck that stole them. Line doesn't make the old Chronic shape anymore so can't even get that setup anymore. Still no luck, but this thread is giving me life in that a thief is getting taken down.
Question: would making stickers that say some BS like "these skis use GPS to track their location" and slapping them on your skis work to deter a thief? Obviously they wouldn't have GPS, but just something that would scare em off. Any better ideas? If we come up with something that would work I can start making stickers haha
Yeah I mean I don’t see why not. The biggest thing is being a deterrent because I imagine most thieves do a grab and go and don’t want to be noticed. What if we started a spreadsheet or database ourselves to register our skis and then slap a sticker like “these skis are registered with blah blah”. Wouldn’t be that difficult to do. Just need a Google form I guess.
I feel safest putting my skis on racks when it’s on mountain because it would be obvious watching someone ski down with skis in their hands.

If I had all the time and money in the world I’d set up explosive bait skis with gps. Once they go missing, I’d track them down and detonate them. I would do this once a week or so
It comes full circle. I am in possession of the skis. Major props to one of the owners of Misfit Skis, Jon Lukas. He bought the skis in hopes of finding the owner and passed them onto me to continue the search.
Sidenote: I talked to him for quite a bit about Misfit Skis. That’s a brand worth supporting. They’re doing really cool stuff at a great price point. I think @SKIIIIAN is their point of contact on here. Give them some love.
I’ve tried snow share, I posted on some big Fb groups. I contacted my buddy who works for summit county pd and I’m calling them tomorrow. Denver PD was no help. I, also, wrote the woman who had the second pair of skis stolen, in the off chance she knows whose skis these are
BigPurpleSkiSuitYooooo we need to get this guy his skis!
i leave one ski+pole on one rack, then scooter over to another rack farther away and leave the skis separate from eachother.
doesnt work on quiet days.
yea, not cool someones skis got stolen, not cool theres people out there stealing them. but youre a chump if you legit trust the public to leave $1000 pair of skis out without even trying to prevent them getting stolen. serves those morons right.
