Truck was making some gnarly grinding noises whenever I’d start it up past couple of days. Sure enough, the pinion gear on the starter is completely missing some teeth. God it sure is fun daily driving a 50 year old truck.

MichiganCatFartWe demand more pictures of your truck.
There’s probably some more if you scroll back in this thread but here’s a few. First pic is the day after I coated it with patina sauce. It’s a 1972 c20 longhorn edition. Rebuilt 350 I pulled out of a chevelle, 700r4 transmission, flowmaster exhaust. It was originally olive green but the previous owner sprayed on that blue primer 20-30 years ago that’s slowly coming off now. I’ve considered stripping it down to the green underneath but I’m not sure how much of it is bondo/bare metal. I just got a new edelbrock carb, weatherstripping, doorpanels, dashpad, gauge cluster, and a few other things but it’s all still sitting in boxes because I’ve just been busy with work, school and other stuff. Looks like a new starter is going to have to take priority though.
Still have it. My mom’s been driving it recently because her transmission went out on her car a couple months ago. She’s in the process of moving and has been going through a lot of personal shit so I brought it down so she could use it. I commute on my road bike a lot anyways so it’s not a huge deal.

Sweet old truck! She's a sleeper now. I bet it gets up and moves! Nice work man!

Not quite yet hahaha. Unfortunately it still feels pretty underpowered but I’m hoping there’ll be some improvement with this new carb since the old one is pretty gummed up. Long term I think some headers would be sick but that’s not in the budget at the moment lol. For now I’m just stoked it runs, drives, and almost always starts on the first try.
Cleaned my room and found this on my dresser
Can’t wait to be this young young’s official coach next year. Had such a great time. Even got him hitting holimonts 15ish foot jumps. He tried all the boxes at HV and also carves better than me and he’s 5!! Miss him and his parents they were so good to me this winter.

Yea, headers will help, and the new carb. too. So much one can do to that engine, it's endless! Good luck!

This is my ‘72. Got it when I was 14 back in 1991. This picture is from 1993. Still own it to this day. Going to give it some love when I get back to the states.
Dig your old truck, brings back lots of memories for me!
Captured on my phone. The moon last night was pretty sweet. Right near the peak of the eclipse, we saw a Starlink constellation for the first time, too.

I’ve been working on this 125+ page bill for over ten years. Yesterday, it FINALLY passed the Alaska Legislature. Still trying to process it all, but our faces in this photo say a lot. I may or may not have been crying.
