mother bought it, it’s not mine and she made it quite clear.
its a 2015, awd, leather, heated seats, nav, bluetooth, back up cam, roof rails, new tires, zero rust it’s a southern car. We’re quite the honda/Acura family rn

After my temp ban I have come to peace with my mind and soul I am now one with the balance good and evil have always been part of this world and we must balance this🙏🤔🤤🐺
We got a bunch of snoe and everything has been buried. Finally started rebuilding main park and adding some shit in the other parks.
Good to have snow though. The entrance down rails were set on almost dirt. The waterfall was touching dirt.
curious to know what goes into building good lips like in terms of angulation of the lips and heights of rails. Our park crew at work does their best but its a super thin skeleton crew and id love to learn more about stuff. They have built some pretty greasy shit though/

It depends on the mtn and the park I guess. But usually easier beginner stuff is more ride on. Bigger stuff for better riders usually like to hop up a bit onto things. But yeah depends.
Honestly s/c rails can be a bit weird sometimes.
In general you want to make sure it gets you up onto the rail but not too poppy or anything. I guess like anything if you dont like it you can change it. Riding is the best instant feedback.
We set our features/build our lips with a cat here. But if day staff don't like the way it rides they'll let us know.
Most places day staff are building or at least tweaking the takeoffs. But yeah i guess we're just building what we think will ride. Usually they come out good but if you fuck it up they'll tell you.
For building I think the best thing to remember is what is the feature and who is it for. Like a small flat box shouldn't be high off the ground or have a gap on the takeoff. You should be able to ride on without popping. But if you have a 50' dfd rail sunk into the snow with a ride on takeoff thats weird as hell.
If you're starting from scratch and really wondering, look at other mtns, maybe take some pictures of rail setups and start there. If you're already semi dialed, just ride it and tweak.
You can get a jump that looks perfect but when you hit it it's a little too poppy, or flat, or there's a small kink in the belly or the speeds not right.
I think beyond that it's just repetition. Like riding it or other people riding it will gove you feedback, but you should have a good starting point. Like you build a takeoff and it should be fine, but maybe you ride it amd decide to tweak it.
The modern park rakes are insane honestly. You can get such a nice transition with them. I think the biggest thing is consistency. Like some mtns build their takesoffs or set their rails a certain way but if they're consistent you figure it out. Every medium/large down rail should be about the same takeoff. Every beginner box should be pretty similar.
If there are 2 down features in a row one shouldn't be flat and the next one a money booter on. Keep it consistent.
I think that heps a ton with the mental image to build. You know what it should have, just build it. If it doesn't work or could be better, tweak it. But usually you can get it pretty close just from your mtns standards, and the size of the feature, and how it's set.
Hopefully some of that makes sense. Im sick af atm so idk.
Parks are kinda all whay you make of it. Can be a job where you just ride and leave everything shitty and half assed. Can be a job where you get into it and keep things dialed.
I was more of a nerd with it for sure. Would skip filming sometimes to fix things and keep things up to personal standards. Thats kinda weird and nerdy but still doing it after all these years. So prolly just a classic how much do people care kinda deal. It's understandable that some people just want to ride but its cool when people take pride in it and keep shit dialed for the people.
It's wild what even a motivated person with a rake and shovel csn do to the standards of a small mtn. Sure it's not going to be xgames etc, but you can keep a small park upw to pro standards if you care. Even some random mtn that nobody's heard of, if the parks riding sick it can be as good as anything out there.
Too many words lol. Hope the local is doing well. Park crew can be a thankless job sometimes but it makes a huge difference on how the day on the hill goes.
Holy shit lol. I just woke from sleeping and hoping to die. Didnt mean to write such a meandering essay.
Spark notes: look at other mtns if needed. Keep things consistent for your mtn and feature size/style. Ride ride ride. If shit doesn't ride right it's instant feedback that makes it easy to tweak.
If you have your down rails dialed, just keep building the same thing. Consistency is everything
Rail heights same thing. If you're in the medium park things should be similar. If you're in the beginner park everything should be set low. If it's a L/XL park fuck it, make some huge shit.
Even in the big parks usually there's a standard though. If your 30' down rail is 3 feet tall thats perfect. If its a 10' box that's not great.
Sorry. I spend way too much time thinking about setting rails, takeoffs, general park bullshit. So yeah. I'll shut up now lol
I got fired ish and hired from ski school to park crew when I was 17. Crazy I've been doing whatever the fuck for 17 years and something like 24 seasons. My last non ski season summer was 2020. And heading back to Australia this year I guess to keep doing it.
You're really just a nerd in parks, then in the cat you're still a big nerd with some machinery. It's fun though. You notice the small things in how people are riding and how features ride. I guess there's worse things to nerd out a bunch.
It's always fun throwing the park a little extra so the people have fun shit to ride.
theabortionatorHell yeah! We have the wrecking ball from June now too. We're talking about how to set it.
Honestly i don't know what to even do with it but it'll be fun and nostalgic
Been very stoked on all the setups this year. Not to say it hasn’t been firing at mammoth for years now, but we’re so so spoiled to slide on the pink metal.

Stoked to have the 22 and 13 pipes open. Forest is pretty stacked. Gonna build out main this week.
Glad we got that snow finally. Cant wait to max everything out!
Had to take a new photo for my license today and big ups to skiing for being the reason why I lost weight in the first place and why I kept it off five years going.
This is the park/race lift at Snowmass. I already called to complain about it. Bad situation for the liftys who got their hours cut, the park and race skiiers, and everyone who now deals with a more crowded village express lift. I miss Jim Crown.
