Hey all
Lot of you probably have seen my username here a fair amount. For those who don’t know, I’m South Korean. This season I’ve decided to shoot a project about minorities in skiing. I currently have one friend in my crew who ISNT white and we came up with the idea, and thought it would be neat to showcase some different races/ethnicities in skiing this season. Going for a docu-ski part sort of thing. If anyone is on the east coast and wants to participate, hit me up! I’m going to try working with my ski shop to do a little premiere as well!

This is dope. I wrote a paper in school last year about growing the ski industry through marketing it more to minorities. I think that without expanding the demographic of skiers the industry will stay on its current plateau. It may not be shrinking currently, but it might soon unless the industry as a whole does more to make snow sports more inclusive. I'd love to see more diversity in skiing.

Couldn't agree more, skiing shouldn't just be hundreds of fucking clones jamming around a mountain. It's up to everyone who is already in the game to be kind and gas up new people of different backgrounds on and off the hill and just show the fun non judgemental side of the sport to newcomers. This film project sounds really sweet, hope you follow through with it

If it’s possible I would also love to see bmos interviewed or featured in some way for this project. One of the most unique and fun skiers to watch probably ever. And no I’m not overrating him, man took “party tricks” to a whole new level

Ever since Mt Hood employers started looking to the Rez for employees i’ve noticed a slight jump in Native participants in the sport I’d say im one of the handful of N8Vs that benefitted from the resort’s help! Since then I could gladly say i’m one of the handfuls of POC who’s money helps the ski industry i’d like to see more natives shredding it would look steezy as fuck to see lil kids with thick braids ripping down the park

I think one of the biggest problems is the increased cost to skiing. I live in maine and we do not have many minorities compared to most states at all, however I have seen a huge decrease in the amount of working class people being able to afford to go skiing. Since the smaller mountains like shawnee peak are getting bought up by boyne, probably one of the best inexpensive mountains. The prices are sure to go up and middle class familys might not be able to afford it anymore. Kinda blows.

I second hitting up Simeon Glass. Hes a badass and skis at my local hill here in SW MI (BIttersweet). Hes a rad dude and i think he just got picked up by Line this summer. Definitely reach out to him if you can.
