HypeBeastStep 1: Open cafepress account
Step 2: Open NS account
Step 3: post about a new "ski clothing company"
Step 4: create design in 30 seconds, 30 seconds after taking a huge bong rip except you get so high that you forget what you were doing for 3 days.
Step 5: sell depressed Mr. Potato head esque design to teenagers using dad's credit card
Step 6: profit
Skiblade420If you want to be successful then you need passion for art/design. You have to grind to make your stuff stand out.
If you have that passion then keep working hard on this shit until you know that you’ve pushed your limits to the best of your ability, sketch a 100 different ideas and then a 100 more. When you think you got something sick, figure out how to make it even better.
Right now it looks like you saw Harlaut apparels designs, copied them and drew something on your iPhone in 10 seconds. Work on it and prove you actually care about art, and aren’t just doing this because having a clothing company is “cool”.

EnvolI 100% agree with you, but I don't really think you need to be passionate with art/design to have a company. I just think you need to have a goal something that stands out from other like you said. I made a company, first because I really love gear and second because I wanted to make so gear that looks in my opinion good and that is actually affordable for everybody.
But thanks for the tips I really appreciate your time and I definitly make more sketches to pratice and have better gear !
animatorThat last part is the biggest reason I haven’t started building skis yet. Besides taking the time to save money, my biggest thing right now is figuring out why I’m different, and what I can offer that no one else offers. I can’t build skis to be cool, I want to do it because I want to give back to the sport but I do not want to half ass it. Doing it to be cool is a definite recipe for disaster. I remember Scott saying that he started ON3P because he thought he could do things differently, and he did. And that’s why he’s been so successful.
THE-Albino*Yeah man skis are difficult. there's so many out there and they're all so similar. Earlier this year I worked on a prototype with an edgeless underfoot. I eventually gave up after the first pair came out the press like shit and $1000 later. If you have the funding I'd encourage you to look into the edgeless underfoot bc I think It could really be a unique seller you'd need to really appeal.
animatorIt’s an idea I’ve been toying with but it by no means will be something that will be immediately available. Talking to both Moment and ON3P it’s something that’s extremely difficult to get right due to the nature of how materials are layer up and pressed. Takes a shit ton of experience knowledge and time to do them effectively and I will not deliver anything but a perfect product
BradFiAusNzCoCaI think you’re going to have to restructure the idea of an “edgeless underfoot” ski entirely if you want that route. The nature of press vs edge vs base and bonding vs edge blowouts/weak points - it’s tricky. I think the way is to totally reinvent the game on that way. Idk what that looks like though
animatorBeen talking to Scott about that one recently and ON3P has some very cool ideas that I can’t share but he did say that the reason they haven’t pushed it too hard is because their team loves their edges. He said that the team wants the control that their edges give them, hence they haven’t really felt the need to push for a new design
BradFiAusNzCoCaMy biggest gripe about rails is that I don’t want to catch at all so I typically have very detuned edges. Detuned outside of the park is awful
