Demo bindings on twin tips: bad idea?

I'm thinking of mounting Attack 13 demo bindings on my twin tips. I don't plan to go super hard on them. Smaller jumps no more than 3s, butters, probably no rails but that I don't want to completely rule it out yet. In general, not super aggressive. I'm an intermediate 6ft/150lb skier so my DIN settings aren't that high anyway. However, with more moving parts, I'm concerned the demo bindings will have more points of failure.

The reason I want demo bindings is because I'm not sure if I want them center mounted and that I may go back and forth as I try them out. Another reason is if I were to ski some light powder, I can move the bindings back.

Besides the longer mounting track you don't have much to worry about. I have a pair of Sakanas with Griffon demos on them (came on the skis when I bought them) and have not had issues with them, I even use daymakers with them for tours.

i and other people seem to have great experience with attack demos. personally i haven't heard any horror stories and the adjustability can be really nice in some cases (i liked them because friends could borrow the skis regardless of boot size)

Except being slightly higher off the ski doubt you'll even notice the difference.

I’m 99% sure the stack height is the same on demos or regular bindings.

yeah, i was just comparing them to my Pivots, never really measured against a reg pair of non demo's

I’m also pretty sure attacks have lower stack height than pivots too.

It's about half the stack of the demo binders

Attack demo bindings are in the 32/33mm heel height range vs 17mm on the non demo version or 19mm on a Pivot heel. Weight is almost 500gr heavier on the Attack2 13 demo binding per pair vs the non demo and demo bindings can have longer mounting templates that can effect a ski’s natural flex.

If you know a suitable mounting point already based on the manufacture’s recommendation combined with the skier’s usage/preference and you aren’t sharing those skis with others, a non demo binding is usually the way to go.

Thanks for the actual numbers there. I think i attract contrarians that just want to tell me how wrong I am. 32mm vs. 17mm is pretty substantial, but i didn't really notice it as much as I thought i would. You're def right about the mounting plate on the demos effecting the ski flex though.

I had a pair of demo bindings rip out of my skis once. I think demo bindings are slightly weaker and have more possibility of breaking, but only slightly.

Also they definitely mess with the skis natural flex, like a frame AT binding

had a friend that rode a pair last year, he skied pretty hard so you should be good, although I am not a fan of the adjustment system on attacks in general

If you can get bindings that aren't demos, do it. I used demo bindings for a few weeks once and I found they would sometimes move on the track. They ended up breaking pretty quickly too. I had to double check the forward pressure and make sure they were adjusted properly every time I put the skis on.
What skis are you using? Usually factory center will be a good mount point for playful all mountain skiing.
