Are Look Bindings All That?

All I seem to see on here is Look at this, Pivot to that, but I'm not sure if I get the hype. To me they seem heavy and unwieldy. I've recently started mounting my skis with Tyrolia Attack/Adrenaline bindings and I've been really satisfied with their reliability and ease of stepping in and out.

This thread has been made 100 times. Attacks are great your fine. Pivots look cool, the release is really smooth, and they are a pain in the ass to deal with.

Lol the Adrenalin is absolute dogshit. The mount zone is fucking huge and it creates an insane dead zone in your skis. The attack is a good binding for the money but for durability and longevity the Pivots beat it out 100%. People buy the pivot if they have the extra money, if they don’t then the attack is a good budget option.

One of the things that folks like about Pivots other then the durability of the full metal P15 and above is the short span between toe and heal mounts. Supposedly you get to leverage more of the natural flex pattern of the ski.

Yeah...people say this a lot. And I used to believe it more until I skied the same ski throughout the course of a season with frame bindings, Attacks, and Ions, with the same boots, and never noticed a flex change, and that was an already soft ski. My take is that the elasticity built into alpine bindings (and built into the track of frame bindings) allows the ski to flex naturally through just about any impact short of a catastrophic bend where your binding should release anyway.

Same sort of thing with the move a few years ago toward wider binding mount patterns for increased edge control. Marker made a huge deal about their Extended Power Frame, while Pivots kept the same mount pattern they've had for time immemorial, and I don't think anyone noticed a real difference in feel.

So, for me, Attacks are lighter, easier to get in and out of especially in deep snow, and much easier to swap brakes on, so they're my binding of choice.

So I get it. So many things that get brought up when it comes to bindings, stack height, mount span, ramp angle…..
I think it becomes a personal choice with regards to which ones or if any affect someone.

It´s super easy: if you have a big cock you will ski with Pivot's and if you have a tiny penis you will be using Tyrolia's

I used to ride pivots for years. I ride Attack 16's now and won't ever go back for many reasons mentioned above, durability, brakes, ease of in and out, etc

I’ve broken a pair of pivots, they’re a pain in the ass to get into in deep snow, and the heel spins when you eject so they aren’t necessarily the most user friendly. On the other hand they look cool, are super satisfying to click into imo, I like the way they feel on the ski (this could be placebo) and I’m used to them so i’m going to continue to use them.

The main thing with pivots is they save your knees from taking all the torque from heavy crashes. No other binding on the market can do this as well as Pivot’s.

if you’re not worried about busted knees then you’re fine with other cheaper options.

my friends with tyrolias all seem to have trouble with skis coming off when they didn’t need too, I can count on 1 hand the times this has happened to me since I started using pivots 7 years ago and they’ve all been doing noseblocks/butters on pairs with worn out adjustment threads. A brand new well kept pair of pivots does it’s job when it needs way better then any other binding imo. Also when the hell has anyone actually felt the weight difference between 2 alpine bindings while skiing

There attack 11 have a solid 1 piece heel and from my experience feel more solid then the 13 and higher

I thought this too. I had some FKS on my park skis forever and was spreading the gospel. Then I had a friend who bought Pivot 14s because of it and kept complaining about how heavy they are…

I personally feel like when you have all your gear on and skis you cant tell the difference in binding weight
