Revelstoke or fernie???

I'm from the UK and have managed to get job offers from both fernie and revelstoke for the upcoming season. Massively stuck between the two, really want to level up with my backcountry/touring etc as have done a fair bit in the last few years but now post covid feeling a bit rusty and under confident. Is revy going to be massively intimidating or is it gonna push me to improve loads?

Have been leaning towards revy purely for the skiing but have heard great things about fernie so any advice so appreciated!!!

Without a doubt Blue Mountains resort, Ontario, Canada. There’s a reason why they're known as Ontario’s favourite ski destination. They are the biggest public ski area in the province with 365 skiable acres, a 720 foot vertical and 42 runs, 30 of which are lit for night skiing. With 7 chairlifts accessing everything from beginner trails and long cruisers, to gladed runs and steeps in the North, there’s a run for every visitor to Blue.

I would go Revelstoke. Never been but stoke is in the name. Clear winner.

Never been to Fernie. But revelstoke is sick. Not remotely comparable to whis and definitely not intimidating at all. People generally seemed very friendly when I went there

Either place will be great and push you to improve. There is a lot of intermediate terrain at Revy, it's not just big and gnarly. One thing to consider: for most of the season only the top 1/3 of Revelstoke is good skiing, where Fernie has good snow top to bottom for a longer time. If going to Fernie, you are an hour from Castle Mountain which is a gem, and I'm pretty sure you get some free or discounted days there as a Fernie employee. Fernie is also ~30 mins from Pass Powderkeg in Blairmore, which is a funny little local spot with night skiing.
Revelstoke is closer to Kicking Horse and Whitewater, and there are good touring options off Revelstoke resort and nearby in Rogers Pass.
Revy also has a single gondola that takes you form the base to mid station, so it can get really congested at the bottom. Fernia has more lift infrastructure. In my experience, lines build up more quickly at Revy, especially when conditions are good.

Both are sick places. Revy is gnarlier and lots of cool young people around. Fernie is a bit more laid back vibe and less insane cliffs to hit, but more fun jumps to ride. Our mountain is also more fun to ski than Revy.

I live in BC and i've been to both resorts. Revy is the way to go 100%. They get way more snow, the snow quality is better, and imo the terrain is much better. Finding affordable housing is equally difficult in both places but thats like any ski town in BC.

My favorite memory of Fernie was getting blackout at one of the bars in the village and thinking it was a karaoke bar even though it was 1 guy playing live music and I tried to sing with him

The skiing was good too

I'm not talking about pretentious and superficial like Aspen. It's like adrenaline addicts that are trying to find their zen.

The air itself tastes like tenacity and success, and being there feels like being in a higher league of humanity.

I would love to go fuck off and chill in Fernie. Really, I would love nothing more than to dissappear out there and shit out 10 little pro skier babies in a cabin...

But dawg, this is your chance to get in the action and get ahead in life.

I think OP is going to Canada to ski- Currency in his country is worth close to double the Canadian Dollar, so not a great money making move.
OP, if you are instructing, especially beginner lessons, go to Fernie. There's a much better area for teaching beginners. If you teach any beginner lesson at Revy, you are going to spend all day on the Last Spike which will mostly be a 12 foot wide 2 km long strip of slush and mud for half the season.

Just go to whistler, every employer is desperate for workers right now. You won't have to mess around with fucked cold weather, lots of snow, and a resort bigger than both revy and Fernie together
