I think part of it is that saturation has made it hard to be invested in the person behind the clip.
When athletes present more like a commodity and not a warm personality, no matter how sick the clip, you disengage as if you're watching a TV commercial.
Films, edits, and competitions have dialogue and texture. 100 instabangers from the same 5 angles... not so much. It's practically unwatchable if there's no descriptions, locations, or "voice" throughout the account.
So how to get the clip sensation back? Cuz let's be real, it's not like we're gonna just stop watching clips.
If possible, going and actually meeting these people, either in person or online.
If they're hosting a talk, go to that. If they're having a meet and greet at a comp, go to that. Reply to their story/post on insta and take note if they say something back. Reply to their NS comments and videos. Reply to

It's not like you're trying to be pen pals (or even have a memorable exchange), just humanize them with a brief encounter.
Makes their bangers 100x more enjoyable cuz you're like, "Awwh, I'm happy for them 😊 " instead of just like "OK cool".
And well, sometimes that's just not possible to meet/talk to them. In that case, you go watch their movie, or a video/text interview, or an article about them, or non ski content so that you hear them talk. Something that's genuine and isn't commercialized though.
Pretty soon you get a nice spread of favorite athletes, where you just never seem to get tired of thier content, because you're actually somewhat invested in their humanity.
