I once had a lady in the keystone parking lot make straight-up animal noises at me and it made me feel warm and fuzzy.

I will say the only thing that pisses me off regardless of where I am is disregard for others and ignorance of rules regardless of intent. If you're in nature and litter, you are a cunt. If you're not considerant of others, ur a dick. If you ignore rules and regulations that protect wildlife, parks, or people's way of life, then fuck you too. I can imagine people royally fuck up knowingly and unknowingly all the time. Ffs I got into an argument with my dad cuz he couldn't comprehend that leaving a fire unattended minutes from a national park was not only highly illegal but dangerous.

Short story about dickheads: went backpacking last year in the Adirondacks and it had to be 1am, this fucking group of guys comes trampling in to a nearby campsite loud as fuck. They are laughing, yelling, and banging things for hours. I was pissed. That night it happened to be like 90 degrees and we hiked a few miles in the dark to the first campsite. Miserably hot and sticky, I finally fell asleep shortly before these dicks arrived. In the morning, we woke up and hiked past a literal garbage dump with trash everywhere, including their illegal method of storing their food, suspended maybe chest level from the ground in a black trash bag. Found out a few days later there was a black bear who had been raiding camps and even getting into bear vaults and being aggressive. Likely a result of fucks like this.

Craw_DaddyYes, I'm a transplant who wanted to live in CO since I was 7, isn't a kook that picked up skiing just because I live here, and didn't move here for the weed. I also know how to pick up my trash, keep my dog under control, and let people merge into my lane, unlike every dumbass from California (as a side note I've met plenty of wonderful people from California who definitely don't follow the stereotypes).

As more people get into the outdoors and beautiful natural spaces become more crowded, it is safe to say that tourists fuck them up. Some locals do too but most of the trash, defacing, and ignorance comes from out of town. Its sad and shitty to see the places you love degrade over time due to throngs of people. Hate for them is born out of that alongside entitlement.

idk what the solution is. Maybe towns enact a one time fee for outdoor use that funds cleanup crews or mandatory education on land stewardship or both. Right now there arent any consequences and locals are the ones with stake in the long term well being of an area. Everyone has a limit and saying that everyone should just get along ignores the problem.

It's the stereotypical thing for bros going through their "adventurous phase" to do. I've been seeing a picture going around on insta lately saying that "moving to CO is the male equivalent of getting bangs" and while that's really damn funny it's also sad and true. If everyone here was actually here because their passions brought them to CO then I would have no problems with them. There are so many damn people who aren't though. Instead, they moved to an interesting place because they're boring and sad and wanted to fill a hole in their flawed personalities and so many of these fuckers have moved here that I can't do anything without being surrounded by them. I can't get a fucking camping spot by designated dirtbike trails to go dirtbiking because all the spots are taken by randos pulling up in their Subarus to do god knows what all weekend, they ain't dirtbiking though!

When I go camping and see a bunch of living trees cut down and mangled with trash struned around or have to sit in traffic on I70 for 4 hours because no one understands the concept of a zipper merge or a passing lane, or have to hear some little fuck head bump Skrillex over their portable speaker in the lift line I get pissed. Every person that I talk to that has been here for a long time has the same sentiment which is that this place sucks now. If your friends are cool outdoorsy people then I'm not talking about them. There are millions of people in the Denver metro area and a sizable portion of those people fucking suck and a sizable portion of that portion moved here recently. Its actually pretty funny, because almost all of the major growth in the west happened within the last like what.. 40-50 years? motherfuckers whos parents moved to Denver from like Indiana or something in the 80s claiming they are native and hassling people who moved in the last 5-10 years... Same kinda shit I saw in Oregon when I lived there too...

CaseyYeah the whole white people in the west claiming Native status kind of needs to chill on that. But the sense of loss is very real and I feel it in a lot of ways. As people pack in and deforest the land with condos to the breaking point and the freeways are jammed all day every day beyond recognition with people that have zero concept or regard for what came before it’s an inevitable reaction for people to feel certain way about it.

DingoSeanTraffic is always going to be there unless adequate public transportation options are put in place to alleviate the situation. The problem is that us yanks arent given adequate or reliable options most of the time...

CaseyIt’s a vicious cycle. I don’t have anything against taking the bus but there’s almost no routes in my town to where I need to go so it’s like a 4 hour ordeal to get anywhere. But then you go to some of the main freeway routes and you can’t even get a spot at the park n ride or physically get on the bus it’s so packed so idk.
