Always been wanting to make the cross country trip up to hood one summer but I’m a little confused about how it works. Maybe a dumb question but does only windells get to ride the park there or is it open to the public
From what Ik the lanes with the rope tow you have to pay extra to ski. But there is a public park which runs back down to magic mile till that snow melts then it’s just a hike park. Someone correct me if I’m wrong

The way it was explsined to me was that the ftc will replace the camp parks and camps and people who pay for the ftc pass will share that. There will be a public park as well.
Looks like the ftc upgrade isn't too bad. I think they're also building a pipe that's another different thing and super pricey for people training pipe.
I was just talking to the park manager last week but I've also never ridden hood in the summer. I think the ftc runs for 5 weeks late june to end of july or early august.

Not sure why you’re getting downvoted, this is exactly how it works

It’s like an extra 20 bucks a day to access Windells if you own spring pass. Summer specific pass I don’t know shit about.
imo, late April and all of May is the best time to go unless u got a crew for late summer and don’t mind either hiking or shelling out shit loads of cash

Nah windells never had their own park during the spring.
In the past windells, high cascade, and mhssc all had their own private parks in the summer. Last year timberline got rid of the private parks altogether and took over the windells/hcsc park and now they run their own “freestyle training center” using the same tows the camps used. Last year it was an extra $25 on top of a summer ticket, or an extra ~$250 on top of a ~$900 summer pass to get in to the ftc. Timberline also has a public park they build on the magic mile but like woflows said, it melts out and becomes a hike only park until they get sick of maintaining it. The ftc also opens to the public during the last hour or two of the day and runs an hour later than the lifts

If you’re thinking about it and can make it happen do it. If you have never ridden Mama Hood it’s life changing. It’s so big and has so much to it, you can get off the mile and ski as far as your eye left or right, you can camp up there, you can build booters, you can do whatever you want with your skis on up there with beautiful weather and vibes. The park is always on point, but go there to experience Hood and all it has to offer. Go camp the Air Strip and swim in Trillium with some new friends then wake up and ski whatever they have open during the months you rarely have your skis on.

I saw $1250 on their site which is fucking stupid in my opinion for a month of skiing. Its 33 days total and assuming you dont rest at all and ski even if it were to rain and be awful out your still looking at $37/day to ski. Doesn't sound bad but its expensive to skip days. Spring seems like a way better deal. Not to mention I could buy three season passes for less then that for the winter granted summer skiing is rare and a novelty.

33 days? Its 3 months dude, June through Labor day weekend as long as there is enough snow up there. Still stupid expensive but where else are you gonna go ski in August?
The June 28-July 31 is for the FTC, but the public park is open June, July, and August (or until the snow melts I believe?). The $1250 pass you mentioned gets you access to both the public park and the FTC, so you do have three months of skiing, but only one month in the FTC. You can instead get a pass for $1000 that only gives you access to the public park.
