Hey, it's that time of the year with crazy deals on skis and I need a new pair, but I also need help. I already had some good advise of some former members of NS, that allowed me to narrow my choice down. Thanks.
I am looking for a ski to have good time on it, something fun and playful. I like carving on groomers too, but I used to ski with the faction prodigy 2.0 2019 and it was okay for me.
I plan to use it mostly in park, in bumps and whatever natural feature I can find off pist to send some good old backy :) This is the ski I will use on park days(at least half my day each time I ski), groom days with family, slush season and tiny unexpected pow days when the big guns (121mm) are not necessary. So I'm not too concerned about its ability to perform well in crazy powder.
I will probably do like 70% park (maximum cork 7 - so fairly basic tricks) 30% all mountain, where I'm just looking for fun, butter, 360 backy's.
I am used to an almost center mount on my 2.0 and do a lot skiing switch.
I am 5'11" and 170 lbs, but, last year I tear my acl, so I'm a bit afraid of heavy skis. Maybe I should not.
Skis I owned:
Line blend 2017 -> too heavy, way to soft. Did not like them.
Salomon nfx -> too stiff / compete oriented. Nice on pist.
Atomic bent 120 2019 -> insanely light, easy to use, nice on pow.
Faction prodigy 2.0 2019 -> Light, soft enough for me. Good buy.
My current watchlist:
Faction Prodigy 3.0 -> afraid of the weight + 106 in early season and in the park. I'm a weekend warriors, so maybe it's great for extremely good skier and not adapted to casual skier as a one quiver ski. But lot of good feedbacks. Lots of people recommanded this one to me.
Faction Prodigy 2.0 -> Sounds like the safest deal for me. I would have appreciate a tiny bit more mm underfoot for those slushy days and tiny pow days. Big big fan of the topsheet (and it matters to me hahah).
Volkl Revolt 104 -> I don't know, never tried a volk skis. I really appreciate the spirit behind the "built together" and the purpose of this skis seems to match perfectly what I want to use. Curious about this almost flat camber compared to what I use to ski. Not a big fan of the top sheet tho. But maybe it's time to try another brand ? Amazed by what the crew is able to land on this one, but I should be careful, they are professional.
Atomic bent 100 -> Had some good feedback for this ski, but mostly for all mountain and not necessarly in the park. Not as playful as I would like from what I heard.
Armada stranger -> No idea.
What do you think ? Thanks !
