I came to newschoolers to watch full length videos, at least 1:15 or longer. Not to watch 35 second park edits that you put up on your IG yesterday. Just gets so annoying seeing all these short ass videos, the point of this website is to watch longer edits that ultimately hold more weight and leave a greater impact on the audience

I got pretty sick of watching full-song length edits with lame ass b roll filling up intros and stuff
I agree. I get when there are like cutaways and some little bits here and there for context in something or just for making the edit more fluid, but when the majority of an edit is just dudes yelling and laughing in a basement and the backyard without much actual skiing it gets tedious.

Are you saying that allowing re-posted Instagram edits brings more visitors to the site?? As one who works for NS you should realize that it really does only hurt NS. If NS was in fact only allowing full length edits that aren't something everybody has ALREADY seen on IG then wayyyy more people would visit NS again....... nobody who still comes ti NS comes here to watch an IG edit they have already seen. Can't believe your comment got so many upvotes when it is literally the exact opposite of why you guys have "gained" more viewers lolol

Ah yes, let’s no longer allow any videos posted to Vimeo, YouTube, or Insta on NS. Removing and preventing a large chunk of content from being uploaded will definitely help improve site traffic!
While we are at it let’s also not allow anyone to upload photos as well! I mean, they probably already posted them to their insta or Facebook anyways.
To hell with it! Lets also not report on any industry events or competition results. Those are probably also on websites or insta.
The point of the media side of this website (Articles, photos, videos etc) is to compile ski content in one place. It’s pretty great, cuz I can see insta edits without having to follow a million people and find out event results and industry news without having to go to 15 different places. It’s a pretty great system!

I posted short edits to this site 13 years before you became member of it.
If anyone wants a trip down memory lane, here's the last video page. Pretty funny that it's pretty much all single clips. Someone like @eheath or even Jammu would probably have a better idea when edits actually became more common. Maybe like 05?

really really wish it was still photo-only but I know its unhealthy to dwell on it :(
you can't change what others do, but help lead the charge and perhaps others will follow. If you think its wack, don't post vids on IG. If you think they don't belong on NS, don't post them, don't interact with them, and instead post quality longer-form content. COVID was nice bump in the right direction for traffic on NS, lets keep the trend going

Ur saying NS should only allow the fucking 10-20 full length projects that get made each year? fuck off dude, most people would have to focus on filming every day all season to actually be able to put together a "full length edit".
