Look pivot binding din setting loosens by itself

I noticed yesterday that the DIN setting of my look pivot 15 loosens by itself. I normally ride with 8 but after 4 hours of skiing the DIN setting of one of the front bindings dropped down to 5. So I just put it on 8 again. But at the end of the day it was already back at 6. Only one front part of the binding is affected. The other 3 parts are fine. I have no idea what's wrong with my binding. I also couldn't find any cracks or other damages.
I bought the binding this season. I had a few crashes but they were not very heavy.
Do any of you have an idea how i can fix this problem?

I’ve heard of some older pivots doing that, but I can remember what the solution was. Lemme do some digging and see if I can find where I read that

I already contacted the shop where I bought them. But they said it will take 4-8 weeks to replace them. And I will definitely not wait that long to ski again.
So I figured 3 option out.
1. I could just mount another binding I have at home (not look pivot). But then I must drill new holes in the ski. That sucks.

2. I just by another look pivot. Mybe already a used one. Then I can hopfully use the holes that already exist. But if I use holes multiple times the screws will not be as stable as at the first time.

3. I just use my old pair of skis for this time. But they are completly broke. (Multiple parts of the edge alredy broke out.) So that sucks to.
Maby you have a better idea :-)

I will sell you a single p14 toe piece, shipping to europe will probs be expensive and slow though

I’d hold off remounting purely as that could affect the flex and value of the ski so seems a bit much for a relatively short term problem

tbh I’d probably just suck it up and ride the old skis for 4 weeks unless you can find a super cheap pivot toe piece

I have never heard of this, I would contact look, especially a high-quality binding like a p15

Hit up @TwoBiFour , recent post about pivot toes and heels. That could get you through the season until the pivots get a warranty

remember you can replace the toepiece on pedestal, without removing binding and ski integrity!

I haven't thought about that. But I think if I can send my binding to look they probably want the whole binding.

and they will have the binding, just not pedestal :p



you dont wanna unmount & remount, unless you put in like bindingfreedom or something at same time

Not true. You can re use holes as long as they're not stripped.

Does the shop not have any more pivots in stock? They sold you a defective product so they should replace the bindings for you now and figure out the warranty on their own time. I’d contact them again and ask for a manager. Any decent shop should put some effort in to make it right for you if they want to retain your business

If it is moving (and it sounds like it) it could possible be the metal screw that goes through the pedestal that the spring goes over and the toe adjustment screws onto. The threads on the metal screw could be stripped causing the adjustment to slip.

Wipe the grease off the threads, thats probably the cause of your issue. Looks like it was mounted on a cast set up, the ski tech probably forgot to take the grease off after pushing it through the new pedestal. The grease only needs to be on the bushing and little washer thing, not on the threads.

That is my setup not the OP. I was just showing a pic of what the screw looks like. Like I was thinking, if the threads stripped i could easily see it slipping down the din scale.

Thanks for your advice man!
But first I will try to send my binding to look. Unfortunately the shop were I bought them didn't reply yet. So I'm gona wait a few more days. And if the didn't reply at the end of the week. I will try to fix the problem by myself.

How could grease cause this problem? Not arguing just asking.

Grease on the threads should not be an issue. I put anti seize grease on threaded bolts all the time.

Grease plus being run at the very bottom din has resulted in the toe becoming loose I have noticed. No grease plus bottom din didn’t loosen up,

just one instance of this helping, but it was worth a shot.

Idk i would just ski with your current pivots until they get the replacement ones in store, cause i doubt the 4-8 weeks is for just mounting they probabaly have to wait for a replacement pair.
