Maybe thats just völkl... but fr tho I do think pros go through a lot more skis than your average skier because they know they'll just get new ones when they eventually break. They got insurance to go a little bigger I guess.
I know the hg guys only went through 2 pairs a year and most people could make those last like 3-4 season. so I’m guessing a normal sponsored rider on armada or k2 would run through at least 6+ of a park ski + all the other skis they may have in a year such as pow ski and a charger ski
If I remember correctly Regetli said he get 4 pairs for the year. It also looks like Rudd has a lot of different pairs, he might be testing new stuff out.
I remember reading somewhere that the top downhill skiers would have around 100 pairs of skis, each of them having a very specific setting (sidecut, wax, edge angle, size etc...).
Obviously park skiers have a lot less than that, but when you start getting edge cracks after 10-20 days of heavy use on average, it starts making sense for comp skiers to have a dozen pairs per season.

Ragettli doesn’t hit rails unless he has to and when he does it’s just kfeds and f4s
Anyone remember the photo the hotel dolly loaded with Josses skis at Sochi? Had to have been like 40 pairs. Maybe it was for the whole Fischer team? Pretty sure they were all the same size tho.
Each athlete's “ski stable” consists of 15-30 skis per racer, which every elite skier hauls from continent to continent throughout the World Cup circuit. I have just one pair of those. Used maybe twice.
I feel like using someone who rides for volkl of all companies isn’t a good representation of this. Id think on average a pro/am in contract gets 3 pairs a season maybe one or two more depending on who it is and the company once they start production on the next years line. Skis break but it’s still not like skateboarding where pros swap decks whenever they want.

I rode with this guy once who borrowed a pair of em from joss for a comp and said they lasted half of the day before they snapped so probably all for joss
I remember someone at a FWT stop landing on a rock and instantly destroying a ski, and I'm sure that kind of thing happens fairly frequently, so the skis could stack up for sure.
Insure they go through a few pairs, but at the end of the season I’ve seen some of the pros sell 3 or 4 pairs, so I think pros either go through a pair of skis faster than a tank of gas or they have a shed full of unused skis.
ThegenericskierI think birk got loaded up on skis because next seasons revolt graphics are the same so volkl is giving him skis for this and next season
whoa! honestly not as many as those non-pros that 'get after it' which basically means no regard for the product and landing backseat or leaving skis wet in the car for days. .. urban film skiers a little more but even LJ it wasn't that many. Seth Morrison, it was like 1 pair of boots and skis a year. I think the more seasoned a pro gets, the less they need because there have been some 'new pros' who were asking for like 8 pairs of skis haha. Getting new stuff is neat but having longevity in a product you like is neater I think.
man if theyre going through that many pairs of skis, then I question what the hell they are doing. Excessive as hell.
I remember back 10 and more years ago, guys were given maybe 2 or 3 pairs of different skis in the springtime that were on a brands menu for different conditions they might be filmed or shot using them in, and that was it. if they broke a pair, then theyd be down to 1 or 2 and they would have to go until at least after February when theyd be hooked up with the next seasons gear for photoshoots and such.
others were given prototypes to play with if they were on some sort of pro model design project with the company, but that was reserved for a companies top athletes.

GrandThingsIm sure the answer for any of these bigger companies is "as many pairs as they want"
Head pros jesper and mceachran probably bust alot of skis based on heads edge durability poor showing.
DominatorJacques15-30 skis

Do all racers mount their bindings this far back?
im guessing from the binding plate placement but damn. Theres like no ski behind the rear binding
anders_athe jester bindings costs more than the skis though :p
Also birk ruud is a cool guy, so its ok.
cool guy has nothing to do with it. Tony montana always gonna be able to do more coke than his customers.

I was gonna say its prob not goid publicity for fotos like this to get out on the internet bc they make the skis look like disposable objects when the ski makers want their customers to think each pair of skis is a cherishable work of art.
it doesnt bother me though. The picture of all those volkls looks pretty based and kind of pleasurable to look at.
isaacwrongJesper just put a vid on his gear on youtube...said likes to get a new pair each comp roughly 12 pairs
Yeah framewalls and caddys probly get burned up faster than ky jelly at nancy pelosi’s mansion but i have hopes for head.
volkls seem to be quite good durability wise from what ive read/seen.
head has literally been skullraping everybody in races for like decades now. I feel that once head figures out its durability woes it will be the best park ski available. Jesper and mceachran both seem to murder with framewalls and caddys
Just watched jespers ski check and he said he will get a new pair of news before every contest. He also said he went through 6 pairs alone just filming for unrealistic 2
It really depends on the skis, the company, and the skier. I only ride 1 pair of skis a year, and pow skis take me years to kill. If you are filming urban all year, and hitting big jumps probably 3 to 4.
I'm extremely jealous of those binding. Markers are expensive AF and I need some right now

he just has a badass punk attitude, that's always been his thing. Seems very anti-consumerist which I think is chill. He never does any interviews or anything, very mysterious
