How long do your edges/sidewalls last before they crack from hitting rails?
When I first got into skiing park this wasn’t much of an issue for me, but as I got more into it and started progressing it seems to be happening a lot sooner. Not sure if it’s a consequence of being a big skier (I’m 6’4” 210 lbs) or if it’s time to look for a new park ski. I’ve been rocking the ARV 96 for the past two seasons, it’s been my favorite park ski I’ve ever owned but they just don’t seem to hold up as well as I’d like them to. I realize this comes with the territory of jibbing and what not, but not sure if anyone had tips of how to prolong the life of edges/sidewalls.
Take a file and detune the edge underfoot, this makes rails easier and prolongs the edge like ( only do this if these are you park skis, I don’t recommend detuning on all mountain skis)
I had a pair of armada Halo 2s and loved them. Had a lot of days over two seasons with them hitting rails and never had my sidewall bust up like that, but did end up wearing down an edge all the way through so that it split. Sad day, but might have been typical edge wear given the amount of days on rails. Otherwise a softer edge that just wore faster
