Frontflips with or without the one foot forward thing?

I’ve been trying to learn the one foot technique since I was like 13 and I still do a dick suck tuck everytime so I just don’t do front flips.

The step front technique feels like it pops you higher and harder so then you can do flips off more stuff like rollers and cat tracks, I always attributed it to having a longer surface area in front of you so more leverage on the pop, feels a load more controlled too, two feet level just never worked for me.

When dollo did the double front on the baker road gap, which he tried only once, he said he made sure not to step into it and just chuck with both feet. Therefore, following in the footsteps of the king himself, I strive to do frontflips without a one foot step.

Depends on the situation, I do both pretty frequently. Kick step thing is nice if you are going for a superman or need extra pop off the takeoff, other way is nice if you are going off a divingboard-style takeoff, tryna grab truckdriver, or just going for the lawn dart

I’ve seen people guck front flips of basically nothing. How much easier is it then a backie?
j_oskiDepends on the situation, I do both pretty frequently. Kick step thing is nice if you are going for a superman or need extra pop off the takeoff, other way is nice if you are going off a divingboard-style takeoff, tryna grab truckdriver, or just going for the lawn dart

Both are equal in my eyes, fronties are less scary but easier to fuck up forsure backies are scarier at first but honestly pretty easy after u do a few

I always do the step off the lip. And stay extended as long as I can before I gotta tuck and finish the rotation the landing.

I actually ejected out of one ski because of the step, and landed it one foot! Very cool day, ofc nobody got it on cam lol

Here is the definitive guide to foot forward or nah.

If you are going SMALL off of a SMALL or FLAT lip you gotta do the foot kick thing cause it snaps the rotation around nice and quick and gives you that small frontflip steeze. Also known as tamedog I guess but were not snowboarders so whatever.

If you are going BIG off a BIG PARK JUMP then you should probaly do both feet together gymnast style because thatll keep your rotation stable. This situation gives you lots of time to fall off axis and frontflips are hard enough to spot already.

Take home message: backflips are better anyway learn them instead

Not an expert so I could be way off. But, with front flips I feel like you can get your moment going forward, with or without a lip (and the step kicky thing helps initiate the flip too). But for a backie, it’s a lot hard to initiate the flip without the help of a lip. I mean, you can do it from flat but it’s way harder to get your weight back than forward imo. So that might be what you’re seeing?
