Fun carving/mogul ski

I wanna learn to lay down narsty eurocarves like Daniel Loosli on days when I just feel like going forwards, so I'm interested in buying a fun directional ski like the Line Sakana or Armada Stranger. It's also important to me that it is good in moguls. Bonus points if it can float in fresh but that's not so important to me. Lmk which one you think fits the bill the best

which mindbender are you talking about? lots of different widths. Not exactly the crowd but i've heard brahma 88 carves super well and is still flickable in moguls. just kinda a one dimensionsal ski and not as fun as the options here. I went with masterblaster when looking for this kinda ski.

Whichever mindbender carves the hardest probably. I'm assuming the 90ti or 99ti

the Sakana is a super fun ski, you can really carve well on it, and it is light enough to flick around pretty easily. It performs super well in light but deep snow as well.

Honestly I think for me it's between the Sakana and the Stranger, Sakana seems like a super solid choice but the Stranger seems like it has a rocker pattern and flex pattern that's more versatile for playing around. Only thing I'm worried about with the Stranger is that it would feel too floppy and not have enough rebound/power.
Rossignol Black Ops or a Dynastar freeride ski could be a contender as well but idk much about those other than the black ops is chargy as a mofo.

Putting bindings on sakana, blade and a few others here to test back to back, eurocarve testing coming up, but.. they shut all resorts here yesterday.. so yeah hum

I have them as well going up in my test :p And pescado, but guessing they will be too wide and floppety, and 102FR and hmm revolt 104 (flexing into short turn) .. think thats about it.



The new armada is priced way way high.

I can probably get a good discount on the armada and also Lines are super expensive too.
Right now I'm thinking the Sakana will be the most fun.

these or the sakanas. camox for traditional all mountain and sakana if more focused on funky all mountain

here the sakana 2021 is priced 8000-8500, but line blade only 5200 NOK, did get sakanas on sale in summer for 4400 (like 400 usd with tax) and I had a hookup for the blades, so they can be had for $500 if you got some buddies in industry or shop people.



I got no buddies selling armada, so I always wait for sale there, just cant get myself to pay retail when I know there are 50-70% off sales.

I think it might be worth considering the chronic. I know you mentioned that you were looking for more of a directional ski but the chronic has a sidecut thats only 1m longer than the sakana and would allow for more versatility outside of just carving/moguls.

the chronic are quite fun, but the speedlimit is suuuuuuperlow for hitting hard carves, but yeah, they flex into even shorter turn than suggested by their specs. Id say they flex out as early as 20-30mph

i have a pair of brahmas and they rip, they make me feel like a ski racer
side note I snagged mine for 50 bucks and they usually can be found for pretty cheap

Having skied both the Sakana and Blade, I can speak to those. Both are incredibly fun to carve on — their tight side cut makes it easy and fun.

Choosing between the two would come down to how you like to ski. The Sakana has more freestyle versatility and the Blade charges harder.

If you like buttering and hoping into some switch carves, the Sakana is better for that.

If you like railing at mach 69 and having confidence on the iciest of groomers, go with the Blade.

Both have great pop and wide shovels to float in fresh, it's just a matter of ski style preference.
