Grinding down rails, kink rails, waterfall rails

Any tips for doing so? Only down rails I've tried I wiped out on because my feet slid forward. I guess I'm just supposed to angle my body downwards, any other tips? And change the angle of my body when I go over a kink.

How about waterfall rails?

I dont have much experience with kinks but I hear you're supposed to jump upwards a bit when hitting a flat to compensate for the change in angle, kind of like when you do the same on a skateboard.

Sounds redundant but just keep your shoulders square and absorb the kinks with your knees, i usually hit dfds as straight from the side as possible because it keeps my trajectory right and easier to line up for swaps. All of this information is useless if you dont commit fully and practice alot, took me like a week of skiing everyday to learn to slide em right.

If you have access to these rails id personally go in a progression from: waterfall - a frame - donkey - dfd

(Also stupid tip here which helped me - think about getting to the end of the rail and going to switch, it keeps your shoulders aligned)

Keep your skis shoulder width apart. Stay low and loose. Let your body absorb the kinks and flow with them instead of fighting them. Lots of beginners tend to tighten up and get tall and narrow their stance.

Lot of good tips already. Keep a low center of gravity (I.e. bend your knees), absorb the link with your knees and you can catch the kink by angling your front ski a little before the kink while staying balanced

It’s not too complicated if you are comfortable with down rails. Get comfy on those and you can hit donkeys and dfds fine I’m sure. Speaking from experience, I was scared of them but I kept my knees like jelly and I’m chillin.

Just get comfortable really comfortable on down rails first, I guess you have to adjust the angle of your body but it should come naturally with a few attempts. Kinks and waterfalls aren't that hard unless they're really harsh, you just have to absorb the kink/drop with your knees.

Lean forward lean forward lean forward and look at the end of the rail

lean forward

turn the full 90 onto the rail and keep your feet shoulder width apart and flex your core

kinks and drops, just let your shock absorbers (legs) absorb them, be light on your feet

Look uphill at the takeoff

It's like skiing moguls, but sideways, and on metal. Just ride the rail like you normally do, get a grip on it and just soak up the kinks with your knees. Do it as if you're trying to keep your body still while letting your knees do all the work

Here's a poorly drawn side view of skis on a rail. Body weight just behind the front foot. Back foot basically flat on the rail, with some angle on the front foot. The more sticky the rail/corugated/wood etc, the more you should angle the front foot and widen your stance.
