Dani-B2013 Forester, got it last August. Experiencing the joys of excessive engine oil consumption 😅
Must not have had the oil changed enough.
I have a 2003 with 205,000, and it's just fine for oil. Have to add a little bit about every 2,500 or so.
Maybe run a quart of Marvel Mystery Oil in it on the next oil change. Rings might be clogged up with carbon etc.
Stuff works wonders with stuck rings.
lol I’m cracked it’s actually done 370,000km so that means it’s done almost 230,000 miles. best car i’ve ever owned. I’m getting her to 400,000 (I hope).

400,000 is gonna' be tough, but since the Foresters are made in Japan, they are better!
Maybe not impossible, but you gonna' need to be replacing a lot of parts with age.
Who knows? I have a '89 Accord Lxi Coupe with 340,000 on it now, and she still runs pretty strong.
Have replaced many parts over the years, but the engine and transmission remain factory on the inside.

Could be re previous owner. I'm new to car ownership in general, so I unfortunately let the oil get below the safe level before the first oil change since the car got into my hands. Luckily no discernible change in performance from that mistake (and didn't get to the point of a dash warning). It happened at some point between 3,000 - 6,400 km since the last oil change. Now checking the level each week so I can get an idea of when I need to add more.
Wayyy more refined driving wise than last gen, loving the no revhang as well. People hate the new look of it but tbh pictures don’t do it justice, of course that may be a bit bias because I own one
ski@jaypeak2Bought a 2014 Outback in 2017 with 43k miles, now at 98k and on the 3rd transmission...CVT sucks
Bro what? How tf are you driving that thing to go through transmissions like that. Ya cvt isn’t great but mines still on the original with 140k and i sure as hell don’t baby it
My 2016 Hybrid touring crosstrek started making this burning smell from the a/c today. Left when I turned off a/c. I’ve been hearing a chirping in the a/c lately which I read can be from the serpentine belt. Luckily it’s under warranty. I’ve got a feeling a bearing is fucked or something and something is overworking in response. Gonna take it in this week and not use it prior

Mostly city driving in Boston. First one went at 94k and then the initial replacement had no reverse so now im on #3 and it still sucks.
coming up on 3 years of ownership with this car. 70,000km and 4 vapes later I've only had to do timing belt, oil changes and a leaky fuel line. honestly i'm pretty surprised about the reliability. Although i'll probably have to dig into head gaskets and maybe a turbo this fall or next summer.

Damn sounds like you just have some bad luck. Idk how my transmission still works as good as it does, I’m constantly pushing it on steep dirt roads and snow. Subaru needs to bring back a regular automatic transmission though, driving the cvt just feels dull. Idk why they have a cvt wrx, if they’re going to have an automatic version at least have a dct. At that point just get a regular impreza
yungonaDamn no way. Impressive. What about your CV boots?
I have sprayed them with silicone several times when doing service, and so far so good for the boots.
The Forester is made entirely in Japan, so the quality of assembly may be better than the USA models as far as head gaskets IDK.
Neglecting the coolant is the worst. Better to change more often than recommended.
I will continue to knock on wood!

That's pretty hype man. No revhang is such a game changer. Didn't even realize how annoying it was until I got a car without it
I've been driving a forester for about 7 years now. Some moron broke my transmission when I was having something else serviced at about 70k miles, so I got it replaced for free lmao. Definitely expect to get another 8 years or so out of the car
Since this thread is back up. Always people shitting on Subarus but somehow there are still a ton of old ones way beyond 200k crushing it on the roads. Shit happens with cars. Subarus have head gasket issues for sure but they're pretty solid. There's a reason there are so many brapping around the mtns. Haters can hate
That said Idk if mines gonna make 300k. Hoping it gets through the season fine. Its at 260 now. J bought it with 104. Had a solid life so far. Been to 40 something states. From Maine to Miami. Northern Wa to San Diego and tons of trips back amd for the country and all around.
Just saw a memory on fb when i bought it in 2015. 06 that is though. But i sold my 02 that next spring. Not that i had a place to keep it but wish i had the both of em. Both manuals. I'm going to be sad if i get more modern and get an automatic:(
/sparknotes i like my car and miss my old car, something something brapp
Washed, polished, and waxed the daily yesterday. I love how the color looks in flat lighting. Also did a much-needed headlight restoration with Dad a few weekends ago. Yellow fog bulbs incoming!
