What is your favorite performance made by an actor in a movie youve seen?
I cant get over how original and scary the character anton chigur is in the movie “no country for old men” played by javier bardem. Please post a picture of the actor in their role that is your favorite.
I think Christopher Walken as Nick in the Deer Hunter is my favorite performance ever, the character goes through so many emotions during the movie and he really nails them all. Also great performances by Meryl Streep, Robert DeNiro, and John Cazale. Can't recommend it enough
Casey Affleck in The Assassination of Jesse James.
This kid in Come and See..
August Diehl in A hidden life, not a super outstanding performance, but perfectly subtle.
and maybe its because I just saw it but Brad Pitt in Ad Astra was great, even though he plays a stone cold emotionless dude, he does an amazing job at it, and the little bits of emotion he show's in the movie is done really well.

Haha thats one of my favorite movies. I was blown away by the russian roulette prisoner scene. Also it was crazy to think about how playing russian roullette and not dying might be enough to go absolutely crazy and start craving that feeling of cheating death like nikki (christopher walken) did. The part where nikki pulls the trigger when theres 3 bullets in the revolver and hes with deniro being forced to play roulette by the vietnamese soldiers was insane. Like after he pulls the trigger where the odds of him dying were like 4 to 1 he starts crying and smiling at the same exact time in a way that is so psychologically deep it almost transcends acting.

What the hell is wrong with that kids mouth in “come and see”?

Yeah, i feel like the spookiness and intimidation factor of bardem in ncfom is off the charts. Hes apparently 6 feet tall which for hollywood standards is pretty damn big. And you can just tell from his whole aura that he is naturally a pretty butch mofo. In the coinflip gas station scene his whole expression/body language is so Intense it seems as if the clerk actually knows “this guy is going to kill me if i call the coinflip wrong” even though bardem never actually says his life depends on the coinflip.

Agree with all that. What I felt made him intimidating was his calmness and sense of honor and righteousness, his own reasoning for his actions made him scary. Great acting, gr8 movie. TLJ and the other actors did well too.
No!! I loved it, one of my favorite movies ive seen in a bit. competes with interstellar for me. Though i can definitely see why people might not like it.
I think you need to be able to relate to Brad Pitts character, which i do heavily, otherwise I could see a lot of it going over your head.
Am I the only one who thought this was one of the worst movies ever created? Overhyped and overrated.

Yeah. I love the quiet music that builds during this scene. You cant really hear it that well. I wish they made the music louder bc it adds to the totality of the scene

Yeah. I actually have a soft spot for some of the ppl in mexican cartels. If you rip off or rat out or kill a cartel member they are going to go after your family and possibly torture them so badly that death would seem merciful... And you wouldnt be able to complain about it because fucking people over and burning people selling them fake drugs and shit like what suburban white gangsters think will get them street cred is going to backfire on them really quickly if they try to play gangster with the cartel. if you play straight with ppl in the cartel they are not going to harm you which i think is very honorable.
i have white friends who have been in large prisons and they all say that the mexicans who are often associated with the cartel will not fuck with you or disrespect you unless you give them a reason to. The black people in prison are another story though, according to my friends, who said they will ride you and rob you of your commisary money and make you suck their dick or beat the shit out of you, even if you treat them with respect. They all will tell you about how the movie black panther was true history and they “was kings and emperors and shit” as if prison was their opportunity to get revenge against white people for oppressing them out on the street (which is ridiculous).
Im just a messenger, if you want to tell me my friends are full of shit go right ahead.
But i digress. My main point is that if you fly straight and play on the level with ppl in the cartel they arent going to harm you, and more often than not they will actually protect you.
Part of the reason cartel members kill eachother all the time is there is so much bad blood and revenge going on they literally want to kill everybody in opposing cartels.
Joaquin guzman for example was very friendly to rich ppl who like sean Penn wanted to meet him and be his friend. If you go to the cartel waving a white flag they will treat you with respect.
that being said if i was josh brolin in the movie no country for old men, and i found 2 million dollars in a suitcase, i would take it and make a run for it just like he did even if this meant i would be pursued by the cartel. I would also have jacked the 200 pounds of heroin so i could have a mahoosive habit for the rest of my life. But i would sleep with a gun in my hand in case the cartel found me because the last thing you want to have happen is to get tortured. Getting lit on fire or thrown in a pool of acid is thousands of times worse than getting shot in the head and having a painless death. This is also another reason cartel members shoot it out all the time. They are smart enough to know its much better to have a shootout and die pain free than get caught alive and get tortured to death in an unimaginably horrible way.
I hope some of you guys who read this find it interesting. But mainly i just wanted to say that the whole honor thing that anton chigur (javier bardem) portrays in “no country for old men” isnt necessarily a bad thing. If you play straight you will be treated fairly.

Also my favorite movie of all time. If Herman Boone can’t bring the best out of you, no one can.
I read that the guy who plays avon barksdale in the wire (wood harris) and ryan gosling are both in this movie you posted a picture from (remember the titans).

You heard right. Also Donald Faison (Turk from Scubs), Hayden Panettiere, Ethan Suplee, and Kate Bosworth. It’s just an all time classic really.

Just google the cast, you’ll recognize quite a few people. Have you not seen the movie? If so you are doing yourself a disservice. I think it’s a Disney movie but it’s great with an awesome soundtrack (lots of CCR)
