So while that's great, you can't base your assumptions on limited cases. You need countrywide data to prove your point. I think what he was getting at is if there is an outbreak, it will be devastating. Most rural areas have a small janky critical access hospital (if even that) with 10-25 beds, and maybe 1 icu bed. Their buying power is basically nothing so expect them to not have adequate supplies. Usually they will transfer critical patients to a major hospital but if those are full, then fuck they gotta deal with it. All it takes is it to hit a factory in one of these towns and donezo. Your rural area might not have factories or plants but there's plenty other rural areas that do where half the county works.

I'm going to ignore the data that's out there and use my anecdote as evidence instead.

Got it.

Let me ask you a question:

How many health systems do you have in your area? How many beds? How many ventilators? How much PPE? What's the health of your average citizen like? Are they younger, middle-aged, or older? Do they have chronic health conditions? Do they smoke/drink/are obese?

All these things play a big role and, as I've said, show that rural communities are likely to get hit harder because they lack the health system capacity and have a higher risk of mortality from COVID-19 due to their demographics.

It doesn't matter if you only currently have 2 cases in a town of 22,000.

If you've got just a few hospitals serving a swath of communities, limited ventilators, and declining PPE numbers, you're in big trouble.

Do you guys import food? Do you import other goods? Where are they coming from? Are the people bringing it in healthy? You've seen a large number of factory, shipping, and storage facility workers get sick (likely with COVID-19) yet continue to work.

The rise of COVID-19 in rural communities might at first seem counterintuitive. With people spread far apart, sometimes with acres of land between houses, rural communities on the surface appear to be practicing social distancing by default.

But Dr. John Brownstein, an epidemiologist at Boston Children's Hospital, said it's common for ]viruses to trickle into rural communities after hitting big cities first.

"We see this kind of trend in the flu as well," he said. "It tends to start in urban areas where there is a lot of mixing, and then it moves out to suburban and rural communities. Additionally, in this case, when people are asked to quarantine or shelter-in-place, people tend to move out of cities to suburban and rural locations bunker down."

I mean, you just have to look at the Spanish Flu to see that rural communities got hit just as hard as everyone else.

It seems like the massive traffic of people checking to see if their checks dropped it’s crashed a lot of banking apps. Navy Federal is down, capital one is down and my girls bank (local bank) is down too.

If later on it did trickle to rural communities, hopefully by then the overwhelming amount of patients in the hospitals from people in the city would be gone and recovered and that could make room for people to be transferred to the bigger hospitals (like you were saying the smaller hospitals lack proper equipment).

So then you're reintroducing it to a city/region that had previously gotten it under control and risking a resurgence in novel cases.

That's a great plan.

You can't assume that urban centers will see a decline in cases before rural areas see an increase in them. That's a really risky and stupid gamble.

Have you watched UK Column news on YouTube? I think you'd like to hear what they have to say. They are not corporate or partisan but just lay out the facts on Corona and actually do research. I was surprised how well-researched they were. They also invite on independent doctors and scientists who are not on the CDC's or big pharma's payroll. They have been in the UK at least re-classifying Influenza deaths and cases as COVID-19. My relative who is also a nurse has noted this as well.

Interestingly Huntington has a notice saying they'll start to become available the week of January 4th. So basically sounds like they're holding them for a few days to gain interest. Fucking banks. I don't need it but for the folks who are struggling this is some shit.

What do you mean? You shoot them... for recreation to git gud at it. At normal prices 1k rounds/month for me is easy and not even on the high end of shooting for a lot of people. Any time I take my 10/22 out I put a few hundred down range and it's not even expensive.

I'm saying there is a shortage because ppl are buying more ammo then they will ever need, its not like you can't buy ammo because others don't have 10k+ rounds sitting in their basement.

Also check these guys out. I know people have a lot of reservations about reloads but I bought 9mm from these guys back when ammo was super expensive cuz of mass shooting Obama's gonna take my guns hysteria. 2000rds, and no misfires or hangfires. Really good stuff. Oddly it appears they are short on ammo too wtf. They were the cheapest brass round supplier by at least 5 cents when I bought them. 1000 rounds isn't anything. Honestly buying 500-1000+ at a time online can save the most cash. If you got land or regularly shoot, you could easily go through that in a week. If you have multiple guns of various calibers, it's not uncommon for folks to have 5-10k rounds or more.

Election year always does it but I think Americans bought 21 millions guns this year because there was billions of dollars of damage done across every major city by violent rioters and looters that went on for weeks and months in some places.

People thought about their personal safety this time around.

It’s that and increasingly people are seeing their local police departments unapologetically not give a fuck about enforcing the law or prosecute anyone for anything. I can’t really blame them they have been getting shit on continuously for attempting to act as societies garbage men and the public doesn’t like what they see so they are just phoning it in and collecting a paycheck.
