Looking for any suggestions on a new setup

Some background (maybe unnecessary idk lmao), I mainly skied moguls "seriously" when I was a kid until like 2012, sorta lost interest and did big mountain until 2015, started going to university in 2016 and have only skied about 5 days per season since. Got back into skiing this year and I've been having a blast eating shit in the park. Problem is that I've been using my old setup from when I was way shorter. I'm roughly 5'11 now and I'm using some center-mounted 161cm Armada AR7's with some marker bindings (don't know the exact model, probably Squire's). Safe to say, they're a little small on me. Additionally, I didn't really give much thought into selecting boots when I was younger, so I ended up with some roxa boots that fit around my foot itself, but there's a VERY noticeable gap between my shins and the front of my boots (they don't have a strap at the top). After hitting park for about a week this season, my shins were fucked. I looked up a couple DIY fixes for reducing shinbang, but idk if any are worth doing in my case, or if I should just get new boots all together.

I'm looking for a new setup (boots, bindings, skis). For skis, ideally I'd want park skis (center-mounted) that are "good enough" in all mountain. For reference, I'm more than comfortable skiing all mountain in my AR7's if that means anything. Been looking at some Volkl models and was thinking somewhere in the 173-177cm range. I haven't really been able to find the difference between the different models other than the offered sizes. For boots, I really need something to help with shinbang. Preferably something flexible but again I'm not too educated here so maybe I should look for a different stiffness? Lastly, I effectively know nothing about bindings, so again all suggestions welcome. Thanks!!

You have a lot of options for skis, I would say try to hit a demo day at your local ski hill this spring but...I'm guessing it's been canceled on account of the covid scare.

Where do you ski primarily?

For boots, go see the best bootfitter in your area. Late summer or autumn is the best time as they will have full stock for the upcoming season.

Bindings, Look Pivots and Tyrolia Attack are the most popular here. Pivots are baller, Attacks are budget. Salomon STH are also a very good binding. Many avoid Marker products, myself included.

Do you have a budget in mind?

Hey thanks for the reply! I mainly ski at Bogus Basin in Boise, ID. Park is pretty shit but fun nonetheless, mostly a groomer mountain with a couple nice all mountain spots if they're covered.

For skis, I was gonna try demos during spring break (this week) but you said it yourself, covid shut that idea down lol.

For boots, bootfitters seem to be all closed here due to covid but it's only spring. I'm sure they'll be open with next years stuff in the late summer as you said.

Bindings, how come the avoidance to marker products? I'm just curious, especially because they're under the same label as Dalbello and Volkl, which seem to be pretty popular brands right now.

Budget is flexible. Would prefer to save if possible but I'm willing to pay for quality. I guess not a concern for now? (excluding extreme cases)

Marker makes good bindings, everyone on these forums tends to hate on them. I’ve owned 3 pairs for 5 years now and have had absolutely no issues. I grew up in Europe skiing the alps and subjected my bindings to all sorts of abuse and they held up just fine. You really cant go wrong with bindings nowadays (as long as the DIN range is appropriate). It’s all personal, I’m sure that there are Markers that have failed/broken but that happens with just about every binding once in a while. Just my $0.02, I ride Markers and Look pivots and have no complaints with either. Boots is definitely accurate, go to a boot fitter. Skis, I’d be looking at something a little longer personally unless you’re not that great of a skier. I’m 5’11 ish and don’t own anything shorter than a 182. Longer skis are more stable and if you’re center mounting, you’ll want a little longer of a ski because you’ll have less of the skis in front of you. I’d be looking 177-184. Demo some stuff next year, but honestly it’s hard to go wrong. Something 90-100 underfoot would be fine I’m guessing. Feel free to shoot me any more questions man!

I've had Markers on my skis for the past two pairs I've owned. The one's on my AR7's haven't broken but I definitely find myself having to reclick them after the first run because they get snow and stuff jammed in them easily. The first set I had, I broke a few times on relatively small jumps doing relatively small tricks (sw 3's and such), but the Look Pivot 14's seem to be recommended by everyone I've talked to.

I went to a bootfitter today (by some miracle, one was open), and took my current boots with me. Definitely gonna need new ones; mine are too big and have very poor options for adjusting them. After talking with the bootfitter for a while, he recommended the Dalbello Krypton 110 ID. He suggested a 98mm last and 110 flex because I'm pretty light (~140lb). I did notice that this is a boot for all mtn whereas they have boots specifically for park. Is there any large difference between those categories?

As for skis, I'm sort of at a dilemma between the Volkl Revolt 87 and the 86. The 87 comes in 177cm size, and the 86 comes in 172cm size. I'm learning towards the 87 because 177cm seems to be a nicer size for overall skiing, and I don't think the extra length would do anything positive or negative for park.

This is priced in CAD, ballpark $275 USD, same site has or had pivot 14s for $150 USD the other day.

Boots are boots, if they fit well they'll be great for park skiing. I think a fair number of people here are in kryptons.

Dalbello makes the Il Moro as a “park boot” but it’s the same exact shell and if you get the Krypton 110 ID it’s the same liner too. Park boots are a label that companies slap on but really any boot that fits you is fine. I have friends who ski park in Lange RS 130s which are race boots
