Sticky rails

We have new rails at out hill, Mt. Dufour. They look like Teflon or white plastic. They are sticky and it feels like they are grabbing my board. Would Pam or Crisco spray be a solution?

If its grabbing your skis, I would suggest using wax or pam. If its grabbing your board, I would suggest buying skis instead.

Give them time to get slid. On some sticky rails, my buddies and I were able to band-aid the problem by just rubbing snow on them. Probably the hack way, I know, but it helped stopped people from going over the handlebars

Deodorant is a cheap alternative to wax if the rail isn’t too sticky. Pam works the best.

Yeah how has it gone this far into the thread and nobody has mentioned this?!

Goat Semen is the lubricant almost all pro's use to help grease up sticky rails and ensure longer base life in their skis. Highly recommend picking up a few vials, or at even befriending a local farmer. I personally prefer to go straight to the source myself and have found it really helps me and the other park kids slide faaaster!

Are there any other rails at the hill with the same topsheet? I've seen hills experiment with new topsheet materials and have seen them flop. HDPE and other hard plastics work great for topsheets but can be very expensive. Maybe they tried to cut costs and bought a cheaper / softer / not proper topsheet material. If that's the case and they never get more slidey bring it up with the staff and hopefully they'll pull the features and resurface them with a proper topsheet. It's a safety hazard if they don't. Weather can also affect the slickness of boxes, especially if they are new. Abnormally hot / cold temps can cause this.

Please don't put crisco / pam on the topsheet. These chemicals can damage the topsheet and other peoples equipment. Also they may make a feature slide better for a short amount of time but can and will cause them to get stickier in the long run. Chemicals can cause reactions with steel and plastic, can harden over time, freeze, suck moisture out of the topseet and other weird and undesirable things. Boxes shouldn't be sticky, but there are other ways to fix it. I'm assuming your park has a good park crew? Hopefully. If it's jank city at your hill maybe you need to resort to unfavorable solutions, but chat with park crew first. Even better, if you park crew sucks ask about joining. A park is nothing without a good park crew.

Brand new. I put snow on them and the snow melted quickly. The one flat rail was ok after, and the wave was good up until the up part of the wave. Thanks for the input!

I will try to get them to wax them. And thanks for the suggestion to switch to skis, but the only switch I do is riding switch :)

Ya I put snow on the flat rails and it helped. The snow was melting quickly, surface is in the direct sun. It was ok early in the day then later was sticky.

I will ask them to wax the rails. The worst one is getting scratched quite a bit. This is all new gear.

Snowboards actually have magnets in them so no matter what they will always be sticky. Simple solution: start skiing ;)

i worked at my local as a parkshaper. the rails were super nice but sticky, so i brought some homemade skate wax (just a mix of candle wax and a teaspoon of food oil, melted into an old beer can) it worked like a dream, would last about 2 weeks before i had to wax them again.
