Hey everyone, I have a question that will probably sound stupid. I have a Scarpa Maestrale RS (ISO 9523 soles) and just got a Pivot GW 14. Obviously, the Pivot plays with ISO 5355 and GW soles and does not “legally” play with ISO 9523. I grew up in Europe and had a lot of friends who would pair touring soles with bindings that weren’t technically compatible. Does anyone have any experience with this? The Scarpa is my every day boot and I have an alpine boot but would rather use the Scarpa. I know it’s dumb to ask and even dumber to do it but still wanted to ask if anyone has experience with it. Thanks!
Don't do it. Sure, it might work, and sure, your friends might have gotten away with it, but it's still a huge risk to take. Is the convenience worth your season? I doubt it.
I'm over gambling with things that have very clear warnings about what could happen to my knees if I don't get lucky.
You can swap out the RS toe piece for regular alpine compatibility with GW bindings. The kit is like $50. That's what I did and had no issues. Only takes a couple minutes.

The RSs sole is not replaceable, but I’m intrigued do you have a link?
