So yeah my candide 3s snapped, and when emailing apparently the short mounting point of the pivot causes it to overflex, so if you use a binding like STH2 you *should* be fine?
Can anyone confirm if they know of factions with bindings not pivots snapping?
Edit: they didn't use the bidning as an excuse, just as a reccomendation to fix the problem as it's sorted out.

Fuck it just mount up some marker dukes to really brace the shit outta the ski.
For serious - you shouldn't have to 'use anything but pivots' for a ski to hold up. Their layup/materials are too light and brittle in my opinion. Fun ass skis though otherwise.

For fuck sake Faction! Their skis are still breaking??
Remember a ton of them failing last season (including 3 people I know personally, along with a few people on here) so was hoping they'd switch up their manufacturing process or something, I guess not.
Omg faction, i literally havent heard of a single pair lasting morr than 10 days wtf. They think just cause they have ahall they can build horrible skis and still sell.
So it sounds like them thinking of ways to save face now. BUT one of my friends has a pair of candide 3.0s that hes been on for a few seasons rides them super hard and hasn't had them break and they are mounted with Jester Pros.....

I have 40+ days on my Prodigy 3.0s now and they are holding up great. I rode pure park for the Roofbox Review and since then I've been riding a mix of park and freeride. I also had two pairs of Prodigy 1.0s treat me just fine, but haven't skied any of the lightweight Candides (3/4/5.0) for some time.
That's not to say this isn't a wider problem, clearly, there are some issues this year. Just that it isn't universal. Luke, hopefully they are going to sort you out with some new skis because that shouldn't happen and they can't blame it on the binding choice. My instinct is to say you'd have better durability odds with the Prodigy 3.0/4.0 than straight replacing the CT if they will do that for you.

I don't ride Faction skis, but what is said here is totally correct. A company can't just say "don't use those bindings on our skis" for them to not break, that is absurd.
That is an absolutely horrible excuse for a ski breaking wtf....absolutely not the issue there. I've seen multiple pairs snap with every binding under the sun. Including demo bindings lol
The Candide line is super fucking fun....but they snap. The prodigy line I've never heard of snapping though. Good skis
My friend had some faction candide 2.0 (? I think? about 110mm underfoot) and he snapped them. though it was on a fatty double backflip, so it was a bit understandable. other than that he is a heavy guy and rides them pretty hard and his replacement pair has held up. he is also using pivots.
Also how the fuck do any of the team riders not break skis all the time. I feel like they just make special identical handmade skis for their pro athletes and sell shitty factory ones to everyone else cuz if not 50% of their profit money would go to AHall needing new skis every day.

I wont name any brands in particular, but I personally know and have seen some higher profile riders go through a pair every month or so, so do the math, like 6-8 pairs a season. On the contrary, Ive heard some go through only 1-2 pairs a season somewhat consistently.

I believe there have been some threads about companies putting different topsheets on different bases for riders pushing specific skis.
For example, I believe the scenario was Atomic riders were riding the white infamous topsheets (which at the time were notoriously undurable) but were actually skiing bentchetlers.
In the skate industry (wouldnt be a post of mine if I wasnt comparing it to skating) its common knowledge that various pro's ride DLX boards (real, antihero, krooked) but with their own sponsors graphic printed over it.
Have your skis been replaced by Faction? Also, what length and dimensions are these skis?

Pretty crazy they use balsa wood in the Candide cores, pretty much the lightest, weakest wood there is - it's used alot in model airplanes so they're like enough to fly well.

Faction is selling Pivot Bindings on their own damn website, how could they make skis that are more at risk to break with the only brand of bindings they are selling? They are somehow trying to find excuses but this is ridiculous.
The referenced post has been removed.
Wasn't it Kai Mahler who got his K2 Poacher stolen at the world cup in Seiser Alm who said on his IG story that his skis had racing bases? So yeah I guess this must definitely the case...

No wonder they keep snapping balsa wood is like the stuff they use in pencils
I put a ton of days on all sorts of different factions every season with pivots and honestly I haven't broken a single ski in 3-4 years. I spend most of my time on the Prodigy 4.0, Candide 4.0, and Candide 2.0. I've never broken any Prodigy 4.0s since they first came out 4 years ago and I've taken some pretty hard hits on every pair I've skied.

Yeah I talked to faction about it, apparently the factory did something wrong when manafacturin the new CT3, so underfoot they flex way too much and crack, especially with pivots cuz of the short plate.
Getting them replaced with prod 4s, so those shouldn't break :)

They actually did, they are being made in the Atomic factory this year so hopefully the quality goes up.

Stop buying factions people. They're not going to go out of business because the rich snobs will always love them and never ski them hard enough to break. As long as the collective lives, we don't need to buy these shitty skis.

Easy, mount some plates to the skis. Mount Pivots to plate. Boom!
Sure, you gonna' be a bit higher without getting stoned.
