Anyone else sick of hearing about climate change?

Everywhere I fucking go there’s people trying to “save the planet” on every website there’s an option to offset my carbon emissions. I’m sick of dammit! Today I ordered a milkshake and it came with a paper straw. Wtf, the straw got soggy and unusable in like a minute. I can’t even get a plastic bag anywhere anymore because “muh dolphins”
Don’t even get me started on these protect our winters guys who travel the world on 747s, go heliskiing in AK then rip up sleds in BC.

I for one would happily see the world burn if it means I don’t have to put up with this climate change shit being shoved in my face all the time.

I can understand the frustration, its really just how the world works these days, but you should certainly care about climate change, regardless of how annoying people on the internet are about it. Climate change is a global issue that we must adjust our long term habits to prevent the destruction of Earth for future generations. Whether this is a troll post or not, climate change is the biggest threat to human beings.

Facts: 2017 july was the hottest july on record for the world. July 2019 beat that record, if this keeps going on were all in big trouble, like being in a raft in the middle of the ocean and it's got a leak.20 years ago scientst were saying the worlds climate would get exponentially worst and the weather more volitile, clime change in no joke but were are you were theres no plastic.

True, but the only way the industries will change their ways is if they are made to and getting people to cut their carbon footprint draws attention to climate change and gets people more involved in the issue.

I think it’s one of those things where major industry will not be pressured to change without massive change of mindset from the public, so yeah it gets super annoying that people pat themselves on the back for buying a Prius or taking the bus now and then, but it will probably take 100 years to evolve into a low emissions world economy.

Also the other thing that is semi related that kind of pisses me off is thinking that emission levels are the end all be all of environmentalism. The physical footprint of the human race alone has already facilitated an irreversible mass extinction just by default of us clearing land and disrupting ecosystems. To think that it really matters what we do at this point with the air is bailing drops out of the bucket IMO

Definitely. plenty of companies that account for the largest portion of emissions and pollution are the same ones that are green-washing and pressuring the individual to change.

I also take issue with all the people who are so green because they don't use plastic straws, but then also don't vote.

But the bulk of carbon, plastic, wastewater etc.. is produced by industry and countries that aren't held to the same standard as Starbucks and their strawless lids. Instead shaming that dude in the grocery store for getting plastic bags, we should be figuring out the big players.

46% of the plastic in the ocean is made up of fishing nets. Commercial nets the size of football fields, which is fucking nuts.

These nets are just dumped or mishandled by operators who aren't held to any standard.

If the Cement industry were a country, it would rank just behind the US and China as the third largest producer of carbon.

Individual efforts certainly don't make the situation worse....I understand the problem is bigger than you and me, but change starts at the bottom, we can't just sit here with a bag of popcorn and say "my only job is to approve of what the corporations and government decide to do" we have to start the change, the ceos and congress members are doing just fine, riding out their business opportunities that are destroying the world. As long as trump is president, it will continue like this, the USA could become the leader in climate change, but maybe not til 2024.

Planet is done.

The current projections only really look "catastrophic" once I'm dead/dying/too old to do anything. IMO climate change is inevitable and theres nothing that could be done to totally prevent it. If it was going to mitigated there would have to be global cooperation RIGHT NOW between USA, China, Russia, India, and EU.

No amount of shitty paper straws, electric cars with toxic minerals in their batteries, or Greta Thunbergs will do anything.

Yeah thats the truth. We need to burn the candle from both ends. I've just stopped buying as much shit, and it leads to a way better lifestyle anyways. I think living sustainably makes people happier too, so there's a good reason to do it in itself.

i dont like how the climate change movement is turning into a huge money-maker for companies trying to appeal to consumers by being "ethically sound" by barely changing any of their impacts to the environment. but at the same time we live in a country where you need rich people and folks with money behind you to make change. its just how it is.

Frankly I'm sick of the News Outlets. I feel that they desensitize us to what they report on due to constantly bombarding their audiences with the same topics. Those topics being Climate Change, Gun Control and anything that relates to the upcoming election. They also make these issues about Left vs. Right and thats not how it should be.

To add to that, I'm tired of hearing that climate change is a problem but not seeing any solutions being purposed and executed. And no I don't have a soultion, so that makes me equally part of the problem.

I think we’re very near a time where the world is going to begin to see decentralized carbon credits gain traction and I’m very excited to see that. I was a hippie in college and between Economics and Geology a lot of coursework was intertwined with conservation and consumption. It’s very clear carbon credits are the best solution while keeping it the business and environmental aspect fair.
Colorado has the highest subsidy in the nation for buying electric cars: you get a $5k tax credit and that’s just from thr state. Add that huge fiscal burden, on top of decreased revenue from gas taxes, and now poopy Polis is starting to see the negative effects so they’re trying to raise taxes to pay for roads. Democratic policies can be soo bad sometimes. They need an Andrew Yang.
You know what is ths most f’ing ironic part of it all? The rainforest was literally set on fire to free up agricultural land to meet China’s increasing demand for corn, soybeans etc from Brazil. The exact thing Trump is trying to fight China for. If China was importing the bulk of those crops from the U.S. the rainforest would have never been intentionally set ablaze. But liberals are so busy trying to blame Trump for every world problem, they’d never be able to connect the dots.

and fuck POW. The message is right, but the delivery is not. Just as out of touch as Hollywood elites getting up on their soap box with all the money in the world they have no right to tell people in West Virginia, Wyoming etc. how they should be living. POW should be getting the ski industry shut down if they weren’t actually full of shit, and if these Hollywood Elites want people in flyover states to do something other than mine coal, drill oil, why aren’t people like Tyler Perry putting film studios or making investments in Kansas to provide new opportunities? They’re all a bunch of out of touch idiots with no real life experience

Honestly paper straws suck ass. I had subway today and I was sucking more soggy paper than drink its pretty nasty. They should def use the same paper for the straws as they do in the paper cups you get at fast food places, it would save a lot of shitty slimy paper. That being said, we're on a ski site and you can't rly ski on snow if there isn't snow. How am I going to appreciate a mountain if I can't paint my line on it. Some of my fondest memories are on my skis shredding down a hill. Climate change is an ass without a doubt but people don't have to throw it in your face like a toxic feminist shoves so called "male privilege" in your face or a vegan telling you that "milk is murder" or that the cow that gave me my steak was "tortured"

I'm glad that more people are talking about it, but it kind of desensitizes everyone to where nothing seems that bad anymore. I catch myself doing it all the time... especially hearing about the mass burning of the amazon and then australia... I hardly go a day without hearing about those types of things so it no longer shocks me.

I cared a lot about climate change when I was younger, now I just see it as a process that's already started and will not stop.

Nothing anyone can do, whatever happens will teach an important lesson. We might be at peak humanity, but this won't wipe us out

Dude it's totally no joke. I partake in plastic free fridays, only drink fair trade kombucha, and cut back my ski vacations to only one trip to japan instead of 2 and only 4 days of ak heli skiing instead of 8. I have a reusable straw, and my trader joes bags are just so handy for so many uses. I turn the heat down in my 6 bedroom home to conserve energy, and when I'm #vanlifing it in my sprinter all over the rockies, I had the foresight of adding a 100W solar panel to the roof to power my macbook and charge my phone when I have to #influence on the road. You best believe I don't eat red meat, either. Sometimes going a few dozen miles out of the way for strictly vegan menus is so worth it knowing I'm making a difference.Next time I'm at your hill, hmu! I'm in the black sprinter with POW and IKON stickers (cuz fuck vail amirite?). If you're down to clown, we can chief the finest from my buddy's greenhouse back in breck.
