Spyder rebranded it's freeski apparel and covered up the logo because "it's not about the brand, it's about building quality product for a passionate community."

OregonDeadlooks like it is just a shitty new Sypder logo with a grey spider on a grey background so more like a branding failure than anything else
btw Sypder is actually now the same company owned by the exact same Chinese guys as SAGA
It's meant to look like duct tape over the old logo. Not sure why they thought that was a good idea — now kids can't identify their brand.
A parent company doesn't effect its sub brands much beyond funding. It really comes down to the Spyder engineers and designers. For example, there is a noticeable difference in quality between Saga and Spyder even though the have the same owners.

now that you explain it I can see how they were trying to make it look like tape
why would the do that unless they had a reputation for faulty logos? Virtika logos used to be die cut and you had to tape over them first thing so your jacket didn't not fall apart. I haven't ever owned a Spyder jacket but I can only imagine something like that was the inspiration

They did it because Spyder has a reputation as being a race only brand. They abandoned a pretty solid freeski program years ago that none of you young guys would remember. This is their way at poking fun at themselves by "hiding" their logo so people don't view it as a race brand
