Is it a trend for utah resorts to close hot tubs at 10 pm while colorado resorts leave them open all night?

The indoor outdoor pool/hot tub area at our utah condo used to be open all night years ago. We used to play beer pong on the ping pong tables there until 3am with no complaints. What the fuck happened? The security guy comes outside to the outdoor hot tub and rudely says “what the hell do you think your doing?” I told him “um, im sitting in the hot tub?” and that we were owners at the resort/condo and he says “No youre not, if you were owners you would know the pool area closes at 10.” Then he asks me for my room number “to put in [his] report” and i told him i dont think im required to give him my room number. Upon parting he says maybe he will get the sheriff to enforce the hot tub rules, and im like “sure, go get the sheriff to enforce a hot tub curfew, im sure that will be worth his time”.

Are these hot tub curfews a utah thing? Or is it just our resort? Ive never seen a hot tub curfew in colorado, and they even get poached by the resorts employees all the time.

I feel like maybe utah has been trying to culturally separate itself from colorado marijuana culture in order to appeal to straight edge east coast parents who dont want their kids getting passed a bowl in the resort hot tubs. Maybe the curfews are part of this “your kids are safer in utah than in colorado” biz strategy to attract loser anti-marijuana parents like that east coast lawyer woman who wrote the letter complaining about dispensaries and rec shops in vail.

Park City is a town with many locals, most condo complexes have at least like 25% occupancy year round, some have 50-60% and they like their quiet mountain town and they control the HOAs.

But i dont think this has anything to do with it being Utah. I've only stayed in a few places in CO, they seemed to have pool hours and all the places I've traveled (all around the west) had pool hours. Maybe its a new thing, probably because people were sick of people like you on vacation causing a ruckus. Park City has gotten significantly busier in the last 5 years (you probably noticed) and I think what you're experiencing is your condo HOA is just tightening up. Just buy a condo with a private hottub, ez.

this is not a thing at all dude haha utah has legal medical and most people in PC aren't mormon (assuming you're referring to a PC condo) there are some mormons, but theyre smart rich mormons who own businesses, usually moderate and doesn't go to church, etc. Utah would legalize weed before a lot of states, mormons love money and legal weed = tax $. It wont happen soon, but some states might take decades to legalize.

Dont you think the recent blow up of park city real estate is partly due to straight edge east coast parents fleeing colorado because of its much more open drug culture? Having spent alot of time in both pc and summit county i feel in colorado people are usually better looking and concordantly more laid back about everything, especially drug use. I think colorado and utah are pretty different, even if they are more similar to eachother than they are to other states.

All these flavors, and you chose salty.....
The pool area is enclosed and separate from the rooms in the condo. No noise would be heard in any of the rooms from a few college students playing beirut on the ping pong tables. If parents want to shield their precious little angels from seeing that they shouldnt let them roam the condo at 3 am.

Nah, I dont think that is a thing at all brother. Vail/Alterra making mega passes is blowing up skiing, it has nothing to do with utah having less "drug" culture.

Its probably due to the HOA that the condo is a part of. Dont know where youre staying but at least in PC, almost all condo properites like that have rules.

People LOVE enforcing rules its the best part of their jobs to them. None of this surprises me.

Based on the KSL comments I have read over the years, Mormons are surprisingly down on weed. Its part of their "Well, it came from God and fuck the federal government." attitude they have out there.

Im pretty sure every hot tub/pool at copper is open 24/7 except the one at the health club. Not too sure about the ones in key and breck but it cant just be a copper thing.

Im surprised you think mormons would hate the fed government. From my exp mormons are pretty up tight and straight edge, and usually those types of people feel safer and more secure by having faith in an overbearing federal government. Libertarianism i imagine isnt very popular in mormon country.

Sadly they switched gears recently and have the medical only stance, which is why they whispered some words into the right ears and gutted our medical legalization bill last year. There’s a whole wikipedia page on the church’s relationship with weed

dude the reason the mormons are in utah in the first place is because they were fleeing persecution by the federal government. They ran away to utah because it wasn't part of the US at the time.

You are correct, they are very straight edge and like authority. However, the only supreme authority in their lives is the LDS Church. Utah Mormons are also a different breed than the random Mormons that live down the block. I lived DEEP in Mormon country when I lived in Lehi, UT and they consider Pioneer Day a more important Holiday that July 4. Back when they had that gun control issue with Obama, all the Utah Sheriffs signed a statement that they would die defending the 2nd Amendment against the Feds. If you are ever in Park City and heading East on I-80 there is an exit with a plaque commemorating the time the Utah Militia actually barricaded the pass and declared war on the USA.

Pretty sure, but almost positive the summit mask mandate was truly initiated to keep the kush smoke out of the Mormons lungs.
