SavageBiffLooks like the base was overheated
DomRichardSo like when you wax skis you run the iron over the base and if you leave it in one place for too long it will essentially delam your skis and make an air pocket, take them to wherever you got them or got them waxed and ask u might get a refund
BST_PoliceAlways wondered what this looked like. That's sucks OP. Iron would be my first guess as it's really random to just get a bubble without cause
Jgross02So, interesting turn to the story. Took it into a good ski shop this morning (CSC) and hung out in the back playing around with it with the owner. It actually isn't iron or heat damage, it is a part of the sintered base that takes wax different than the rest. Likely different porosity on the surface at these spots it seems. Was able to scrape it off with a metal scraper (plastic wasn't cutting it) and for sure it was clear and wax, not black and base haha. Just need to pay special attention to the areas when waxing. Very interesting. Was able to get it even and all, but if you look real close it does look slightly different at these areas even when flat and feeling the same. Shop owner said he saw this once before he thinks and just happens once in a very times with sintered bases where there is a spot that is missed by QC because you don't see it until you get a real wax. Will ski it until I need a base grind and then it will likely go away with that he says.
