Unorthodox but effective clothes on the mtn

Would it be weird to wear like Palace or Polo jackets on the mountain if they were good quality and looked nice? No one ever does it, but I don't see why not.

This has nothing to do with the original post but fit a long time I wore board shorts under my ski pants. Halfway between wearing nothing and a base layer for those in between sorta hot sorta cold days. Plus the material held up well to water. Unorthodox... But Effective.

Old fishing and boating jackets are great for spring days or rainy skiing, or even super wet late season storm riding.

I also rock 10+ year old wool sweatpant bottoms over my baselayer, been doing that ever since i can remember

If it’s dry snowing, you can just wear a long sleeve shirt over a sweater. It’ll catch the snow but because it’s not melting on you, you won’t get wet and it’ll come off mostly on its own. Really though a windbreaker is both trendy and effective when it’s snowing

I jurst wear ma carhartts with some steel toed boots so everyone knows im a workin man. Only thing is the snow washes out the oil and cig ash so they aint as waterproof after I ski in'm. mhmm.

As far as I know board shorts or just shorts is something pretty much every park/freeride skier does

Get some work clothes, carhartt type brands, way cheaper than ski gear and if you get the right stuff it holds up fine. I had a pair of carpentry pants for half a season and could hardly tell the difference, used the hammer loop for my pass.

Do that same thing, pair of wrangler ones from Walmart for like $15. On their second season now. Pass on the loop and everything.

I ski with board shorts under my ski pants.

I absolutely shredded through my expensive neoprene sailing gloves, and found that some $15 dish washing gloves from William Sonoma gave plenty of dexterity, waterproofing, and a warm fabric liner for spring sailing. They also make great rainy day gloves for skiing, assuming you don't cut the rubber grabbing or something.
