Snowbird or Alta?

Alta got mad cliffs, so basicly if you wanna be hucking 60 foot cliffs and go 50 feet out u tots can if you are nuts. The biggest hucking pros train at alta cause if you get enough speed of the drops its not bummholed out

A little off topic but someone once told me that Alta is better early season because its a lot grassier underneath and Snowbird is super rocky. Can anyone tell me if there is any truth to that?

I can verify snowbird has a lot of rocks early season especially Peruvian side, not sure about Alta

i like both tbh. been skiing snowbird for a bit and just now started skiing alta a lot more.

not really one to draw lines in the sand. Both are fun to ski if you know where to go and have some homies who do. I like skiing my go-tos at snowbird and skiing there in the spring and hauling ass on groomers but love to chase my friends around at Alta.

Altas been a lot of fun this season though.

If I had to choose one or the other I'd go bird cause they stay open in the spring

but if I was just skiing in the winter I'd go Alta, something about the terrain just feels more playful at Alta than snowbird, but it's def a tiny difference

After spending last winter out there I'd pick Alta. Snowbird is rad and has more vert, especially doing tram laps (if the tram line isn't crazy which it often is on good days) but for me there is also something important about the vibe of the area. Snowbird's vibe is pretty stale and full of bro brahs, whereas you can really feel the mountain culture at Alta. The apres at goldminers daughter is also hard to beat (go get yourself an Alta Bomb).

The whole skiers only part of Alta is also pretty sweet, even on chalky mid winter days where it hasn't snowed in a while it still skis so well. It never gets too bumpy, except maybe over on the intermediate terrain off sugarloaf.

I'll also say if you're not willing to put in some work to hike and/or sidestep a shit ton, you might like snowbird better. There is something magical when Alta fills in enough to ski things like the gut of Devil's Castle on a great snow year (like last year).

They are pretty much the same. Same terrain. Same amount of snow.

Snowbird has some nicer restaurants and amenities - Alta is just a little bit more old school feeling but that’s slowly changing.

Alta is the bees knees. Like someone else said the vibe there is far more relaxed and old school which is great. So many good jibby laps to be had but also tons of steeps to be skied if thats more your thing.

cant go wrong with alta. snowbird tends to be alot more crowded and tracked. both have amazing terrain but altas flowy lines, local shredders, hidden cliffs, and pow shots to the face are hard to beat.
