How aggressive is ON3P park detune???

Looking at getting a pair of the Magnus 102 but am planning on using them more all mountain ripping/jibbing than in the park. My only concern is losing all mountain performance due to the detune.

Can anyone speak to how detuned they are? Is there enough edge left that I could sharpen the detuned section a bit myself?

I've also considered the Jefferys but am worried they might be a bit too much for me (aggressive east coast skier, 5'10", 145 lbs) because I wanna have something I can play around on as well as rip around my local hill (shoutout Gore)

The detune gets rid of all the edge underfoot. There is absolutely no edge to it

This is not true unless you are speaking figuratively. It's the most aggressive factory detune I've ever seen, but that's the point. Really well done, it'll make you ashamed of all the detunes you've performed before. They hone out the detune so it's like a mirror. It's only underfoot, so the tip and tail are still sharp. If you wanted to sharpen the edge again you would absolutely need to grind the base to get to some fresh edge, cause they round it over. Just order a custom set without the detune if you want them sharp.

if you are looking for a more all mountain freestyle ski, why not look at the Jeffery 108s
bt fr, the detune is hella nice, it detunes the edge underfoot while still keeping edges on the tip n tail
if you arent down for the J108s and still wanna do all mountain, just dont get the park detune
have fun on the new skis to :)

Perhaps email them asking for a pair without a detune. Usually
they can hook you up. It’s worth asking

ON3P detunes under foot and at the tip and tails of the skis as the picture shows. The park detune does't affect your edge control as you may think, you'll still be able to carve well but not at an extremely high level. Detuning skis yourself isn't a bad alternative as long as you don't destroy your edges, it gives you a little more control over how you really want your skis to ride.

Yeah I thought about the J108s but think I’d prefer something a little lighter/more playful. Is there a way to request no detune without going through the whole custom process (and spending all that extra $$$)?

I mean probably
give the ON3P customer support a shout, they are always super helpful and they will probably be able to sort something out for you!

Got my j96s with a “medium detune” and I can’t imagine what a full detune would be. It’s like smoooooth rounded so nicely.

Rode my first day on em and they are totally fine carving on snow that isn’t bulletproof, but as soon as it gets crispy you better not lean into a carve. Took a nice hip-check to ice that I wasn’t expecting - basically gotta treat that kind of snow as if it’s a rail and just go straight or full sideways. Or develop cat like reflexes which I plan to.

Was the same boat as you - wanted to ride them all mountain but also hit some rails every couple laps. Detuned for durability but they definitely demand a bit of a new awareness all mountain.

Their customer service is sick. Just ordered some M102s in 181 and they're gonna flag a pair in production to not get a park detune for me so I don't have to spend the extra dough on customs. Shoutout ON3P
