Hi shredders,

I released an app called SkiBuds at the end of last season and moved to Colorado to actively promote the app. I am planning on traveling around the country now and passing out stickers and flyers in order to get the word out. Although not many people are on it yet, I am hoping people start using the app soon. I would really like any feedback and I will try to incorporate everyone’s ideas. If you want any stickers let me know and I can mail some your way!

Do you have the NS app OP? It is pretty good for finding ski buds. If people like you they can message you and agree to meet up. IDK maybe just try to increase your post count on here. I'd be worried this whole project probably is going to backfire in terms of you actually making friends if it hasn't already

Basically but without the dating aspect. I want it to be day of on the mountain/ more like a Facebook messenger for random people of same skill level

Today was the first time I have ever seen the app tbh. It seems awesome, just stumbled upon somehow while googling. I understand what you are saying, but it’s a different concept in that I want SkiBuds to be finding people moment of to carpool or ride specific runs vs planning in advance

You can solicit people on here to meet right now too but most people like to plan ahead. Also getting consistent responses is going to depend on having lots of users. With a good community you don't really need much of an app. You may claim otherwise but I looked at your site and you are basically trying to start from scratch and build yourself a new NS or PugSki or TGR or the ski Diva or turns all year, or whatever. What makes these forums appealing is the community not the technology

Constructive Criticism/Review : I'm closer than 100miles from a resort and it wasn't showing any on my list, Im in South Lake Tahoe, so must be a glitch, also, there are way to many channels per mountain, it feels a little off having to click on so many different chats based on where you are/what you are doing in a day. Maybe combine some of the chats?

Need some AZ snow-bowl and CO Purgatory support for me to use it. Arizona has a lot of skiers, and we travel to SLC, Mammoth and CO quite a bit.

Awesome, thanks for the review. Maybe I have the wrong gps coordinates for that resort. I put them all in by hand. A checked a couple right now and can’t see one that is off. Do you know which mountain it was and did the others work? Otherwise it may be a bug I’ll have to look into. I’ll take that feedback and really try to figure out what channels people want when I meet people if anyone starts to use the app.

I live In the 96150 area, so there should be all of the Tahoe areas listed because I don’t believe there are any over 100 miles away from 96150, must be a big?

I’m taking a class called “Implementing Innovation” up at LC college and no joke, 3 of my peers came up with an idea for a website called “SkiBuddy” where people could link up with other skiers at mountains all over. Was a little stunned when I checked NS in the middle of class and saw this post.

I'll check it out this year. Seems interesting and a little easier than posting threads or scrolling through threads to find one. Will still do both though. Kinda gives me a Craigslist for skiing vibe though....

I downloaded it. I’m located in Salt Lake City within 100 miles of 6-7 resorts and none of them showed up. I clicked through a few Colorado resorts that seemed to be active but there wasn’t that much action, I’m sure that’s just because it’s new. Good concept provided you can get a following together.

OP i'd recommend advertising it on reddit and a few other places. Needs a critical mass to be worth it for the upcoming season.

Absolutely thanks for the tip. Have done before but will def do again this week, should be hitting 1000 users tonight and starting to see traction in Colorado which is exciting

Absolutely. Unfortunately I’m a one man show so just put money into stickers and flyers. Will start to dump more of my own money as the season begins to take off

Neat concept. Please continue adding locations. There are barely any midwest listed. I think the closest one I saw was Wilmot amd thats like 450 miles away

Actually just checked the app out. My home mountain is on there so it’s all good! I guess it would be nice to add smaller mountains like Shames Mountain and places like that but that would be asking for too much.
